Help Finding Old Song SOLVED

I have this song stuck in my head. It's an oldie from around the 50s/60s era (I think)

Don't know the singer/group otherwise it would be a lot easier to find. I tried looking up the lyrics but they're are hundreds of songs with similar lyrics.

All I can remember are the lyrics "How do you do the things that you do to me. (something something I do them too" Not sure if those are the lyrics at the end, it just sounds that way in my head. But the first line I remember so distinctly.

Old music lovers please help this has been driving me crazy.

Those lyrics are from How Do You Do It? by Gerry and the Pacemakers ...

I used to own that single until Hurricane Andrew came to Miami back in 1992 and destroyed all my 45s (not to mention a whole lot more).

I am going to kiss you. THAT'S IT. I thought I was going crazy. Thank you so much

reply

You're welcome, ghostboy.

Now, as far as that kiss goes, just send over a bag of Hershey's Kisses and we'll call it even.
Yup, I'm still addicted to milk chocolate. ;-)

Well done!

Fun song👍

reply

Haha. Both are well deserved for knowing the song.

Well done on actually getting it. I didn't think anyone would actually know it. It was a total last resort posting about it here.

reply

I'm glad you found your answer. Gerry and the Pacemakers deserve to be remembered -- not that I would have been of any help. But as soon as I heard the singer I realized this is a fairly popular group from back then.

reply

Thank you Snepts. That's very kind of you and I agree, they do deserve to be remembered.

"so beatles wannabes"

It's funny you say that, hownos, because ...
a) both The Beatles and Gerry and the Pacemakers were from Liverpool
b) both bands were managed by Brian Epstein
c) both bands were recorded by George Martin

In fact, The Beatles actually recorded How Do You Do It? first, but they decided not to release it.
Instead, they gave the song, which was written by Mitch Murray, to Gerry and the Pacemakers who had a number 1 single in the U.K. with it.

You can read more about this relatively short-lived band (they disbanded in 1966) at ...

In addition to How Do You Do It?, I also owned these two singles ...
Ferry Cross the Mersey - https://youtu.be/08083BNaYcA
Don't Let the Sun Catch You Crying - https://youtu.be/LKta_gRc2gA

Finally, much like The Beatles, Gerry and the Pacemakers were definitely part of the soundtrack of my Junior High School years.
