So-called "natural" peanut butter sucks

I opened it before realizing I bought the wrong one. There was about a inch of oil on the top and you have to stir it. The taste and texture is terrible. My wife hated it also. I threw it in the green bin.

reply

Kill it with fire!
It's awful

reply

i don't think the raccoons would eat it.

reply

It's supposed to be better for you because it has no preservatives or added fat and oil.. But peanut butter NEEDS some oil or it has the consistency of wallpaper paste. I tried it once (it didn't have any oil on top) and I darn near needed a tracheotomy to breathe.

very dry

the rats will since they are now cannibalizing due to covid 19.

That would make one heck of a motion picture...'The Other Secret Of NIMH'

One way or another it is one of my favorite dairy products

I get my peanut butter at Trader Joe's. It the best peanut butter ever!

reply

Dang. I wish there was a Trader Joe's here. It's about 50 miles to the nearest one.

reply

Safeway also has good peanut butter.

reply

No Safeways here. ☹

reply

You ever try the sriracha bacon jerky? Shit is fire!

reply

I recently switched to a "natural" peanut butter. Yes, having to stir it is a pain, but I actually like the taste better. I switched to avoid the sugar that's added to peanut butter these days.

reply

I won't go near the type with oil on top because it looks disgusting. I go to a store where there's a machine with fresh peanuts that turns them into peanut butter after a button is pushed. There's no oil and it tastes fine to me.

reply

I readily admit the oil on top looks icky, but I've never seen anywhere here that you can turn fresh peanuts into peanut butter without the oil. Rats!

reply

Maybe a health food store? There's a health food store with the machine. I used to go to another health food store and supermarket which would make the peanut butter themselves and sell it. You can also make it with a home food processor, but it's going to be more expensive since you have to buy the peanuts.

reply

A health food store is food for thought. Thanks.

reply

You're welcome. This topic lead me to snack on pb on crackers.

reply

You can use an emulsion blender and it works just fine.

reply

Flip the jar upside down, so the oil sitting on top sifts down to the bottom. Let it sit for a few days.

Peanut butter is good bait to catch mice in a mouse trap. Unless you do this instead: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pk1ue1tolFc

reply

Oooh. I should do this. I have to admit I thought about turning the jar upside down but haven't tried it yet.

reply

It sure does . Don’t make that mistake again.

reply

Skippy smooth is the only PB for me.

reply

Problem with brands like Skippy is that they have hydrogenated oil and sugar in them.
