Why do people take an instant dislike to someone for no reason?

I find that when I look back on my life some people I've came across have just been plain right mean and nasty to me for no reason. This has made me learn to not like people much. There's even this co worker at work who use to talk to me and then just turns bitchy for no reason at all and i get the feeling she doesn't like me although I'm generally a nice person and haven't done anything to her. Anyone else have experience of people not liking you even though you've given them no reason to?

It saves time.

Oh, there's always a reason, though it's not always apparent to everyone else. Typically, it's something internal, a reason only they will understand.

Like an ugly woman who's fought her whole life to be successful, and then some young, beautiful, ignorant girl walks in the room and immediately gets doors opened for her that the ugly woman had to fight for years to do the same thing. Or a guy seeing someone wearing memorabilia of something he hates, like a nasty rock band, or a celebrity he had a "fallen idol" moment with. Or a woman who's infertile, and suddenly, all her friends at work are fawning over a female coworker who just got pregnant. Sometimes it's just their face or their voice that sets some people off.

Usually jealousy. They have some hidden insecurities about themselves. Also, racism is a big one. Most racism is subtle.

reply

No, they always give me plenty of reason.

reply

Sometimes it just comes down to the way you carry yourself, how you speak or facial expressions that can immediately rub someone the wrong way.

I'm not sure but I think it might have something to do with lobsters.

The cleaning world can be full of meanies.

reply

Yes. Some girls are just bitches.
