Why is employing child actors not a crime?


It's a crime to employ minors in, say, the textile industry, or basically any other industry. Why is the film industry treated differently?

So that adults can pretend the arts are on a different level to every other field, mainly to justify the exorbitant amount of money that goes into the wages of those in the arts. Not only are kids pushed into acting, almost to the point that you could say they are sold into the industry, but I've seen child painters and authors pushed to a certain degree as well in recent years.
