Do moderators delete posts by new users who post links? (SOLVED)

Someone with only 4 posts wrote a topic telling us to check out a movie downloading site. I waited to see if anyone would click the link. When I tried to check back, I noticed that the post has been deleted. Not deleted where a post is there but it says "deleted". I mean there is no trace of the post at all.

In my experience the Mods are pretty fair here, no beef on this farm Amigo
I've gotten my wrist slapped a couple of times and probably had it coming

Having said that a new poster with a 'free stuff' link always seems a tad sketchy to me...

reply

I have no problem with the mods. I just find it strange that they deleted the post because the links are there. I wasn't sure if they deleted it because they clicked the link and found it inappropriate, or they saw that they only had 4 posts and found it suspicious that they posted the link.

reply

I reported it.

reply

Okay then. That's probably why they deleted it. Did you click the link or report it right away?

reply

I didn't even bother to look. Didn't trust it. It was basically a cold call.

reply

I accidentally clicked it
when I was scrolling down but closed the tab before it fully loaded. Hopefully it didn't cause too much damage.

reply

I'm on Apple, which no one bothers to write malware for (virtually), so I clicked on it, confirmed it was spam and promptly reported it.

reply

So the site had nothing on it at all, just endless ads?

reply

Dont y'all think that even if the link did what it said and let you down free movies , really fast , with popups or adverts ...

... it should still be deleted , cos that like , illegal?

reply

Depends where you live. Some areas allow downloading but not uploading.

reply

The T and Cs of this site state that bot advertising (and it was clearly this) is not allowed. Plus, we don’t want this crap stinking up our board, right?

reply

That post was spam. I reported it too.

reply

Me too.

reply

We don't need 'junk mail' stinking up the place.

reply

'Junk mail, we don't need no stinkin' junk mail!'

reply

Machete don’t junk mail!

reply

😬

reply

No doubt.

reply

deleted

reply

Not quite like that. The post was completely gone.

reply

deleted by the mods. it has been done before.

reply

We view posts with those characteristics as spam and remove them on that basis. The sites they link to are often serving illegal streams and/or are laden with malware.

reply

Thank you the last thing we need here is people putting out advertisements etc.

reply

Okay thanks.

reply

Cool, thanks. I report em on sight.

reply

Me too.

I'm suspicious of anyone whose first post(s) contains links, especially strange ones, which leads to a suspicion of them being a spammer, in my book. A YouTube link is one thing, but not a link I don't even recognize. I'd never click an unfamiliar link out of concern for viruses or malware.

reply

The next post is someone's first ever message advertising a site with a link to flixletter or something! Glad I read this first lol. Can't report it though, the icon is just grey. The name is johnmoviebuff.

reply

I can't stand users like this. They try to ruin a good thing.

reply

And I reported it as well. It’s promoting theft of intellectual property.
