beyond the valley of the dolls

reply

Wow, it's been a while since I've watched this.

but, I think "you're, you're nothing but a fraud."

reply

THE CORRECT ANSWER IS...

...COOL HAND LUKE (1967)

reply

I'm going to watch that tonight.

reply

1967...THE YEAR PAUL NEWMAN WAS ROBBED...EASILY THE BEST PERFORMANCE OF THE YEAR....HIS COLOR OFMONEY WIN WAS HALF A MAKEUP FOR THE SLIGHT.

reply

That's a pretty solid answer
I'm gonna make like a teacher and give you an A++++++...

reply

I can't do it. And for that, I am sorry.

No favorite song of all time either.

reply

Top ten?

reply

hmmm.... maybe. movies are weird b/c they can take hold for a period based on who you are during that period.

but for music? no way

reply

Yes, I agree, but I want to know some movies you like.

reply

Pick a letter

reply

L

reply

pick another. nothing jumped into my mind for L

reply

D

reply

The Deer Hunter
Deliverance
Dead Alive
Donnie Darko

reply

And for L, maybe the 3rd film of The Lord of the Rings trilogy.

reply

Testosterone

reply

That one? Or all of them? Actually, I liked the visuals best and the story of a burden ill-equipped to carry. Battle scenes play into the visual thing. You can pause nearly any moment of that film and have a majestic painting.

reply

All but Donnie Darko. Even though it's a Male protagonist.

reply

I think my reasons are a bit different but maybe that doesn't matter.

And Dead Alive is a funny horror movie about a mama's boy and his zombie mother. Is it b/c there's violence, it's labeled "testosterone"?

reply

I've not seen it, but I'm aware that men love it, see it on lists a lot. It's all good. I dig Deliverance.

reply

Men don't love it unless "testosterone"? It's just batshit, low-budget creative, early Peter Jackson. Think Evil Dead.

Yep, just like Rambo.

reply

Evil Dead, again, a dude flick. Women don't watch that kind of thing. Sure there are exceptions.

reply

Yeah, exceptions for sure. A girl from high school couldn't wait to show all of us what she had on VHS. That's when I saw it first. She saw the remake on opening night back in 2013 (she was counting down the days on Facebook), but she was sorely disappointed as were all fans of the original. It lost all its low budget charm. Less money forces you to be more creative, and practical fx still work best in that type of film

reply

I hate when the thread gets thin like this but I still have a lot to say. When I wrote testosterone I don't mean Rambo. I just meant guy stuff. All the films I listed also have a Male protagonist. I feel I have offended you yet agsin.

reply

Ah, "yet again". Is that why my film tastes were summed up in one word based around gender? Was the question about my film favs a Trojan Horse? Did you want me to think you an ass so you could pick a fight or resume one that started with someone else? If that's the case, I'm not biting.

reply

I liked that one two, especially the scene with the banjos.

reply

No, not because of violence. Just, it's for dudes. They like that stuff. Am I being an ass?

reply

2001: A Space Odyssey

reply

I liked that one too but it was waaaaaay to long, over three hours!

reply

A tie between "Seven Samurai" and "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly".

reply

Now, Voyager (1942) Bette Davis

Persuasion (2007) Sally Hawkins

reply

Now, Voyager an early favourite of mine as well.

reply

Wizard of Oz (1939)

reply

I've seen Wizard of Oz at least a dozen times! Great film.

reply

Sleepaway Camp 2: Unhappy Campers. It never fails to entertain me.

reply

Poor Ally.

reply

Sleepaway Camp 2 is awesome!!!!! As are part one and 3!

reply

I've watched it so many times I've lost count lol. All of them are great!
