If so, what did you think of it? Would you go again?

STINKY,COLD/HOT AND KIND OF A LOT OF FUN...PUSHING 40 NOW,ID BE LESS INTERESTED IN DOING IT ANYMORE.

reply

Yes. I hitchhiked halfway across the country one summer when I was 16. It was decades ago, a different time and an adventure I'll never forget.

The backpack is fine. The hotels are the one I don't want to be in. You know, backpackers' hotels. When I'm on a vacation I'd like my hotels to be at least as good as my home, or better.

reply

There typically known as hostels. Very basic, but it makes for a good social atmosphere.

reply

I'm not fond of them. Especially the ones with public/shared bathrooms. Ugh, gross.

reply

Yes, a few years ago I went backpacking though Germany, ate at this Turkish place called Somzen Baklava. Ever had baklava? It was on Oranienstraße but it moved to a different location.

reply

Yes, baklava is a Greek dessert. It's very good!

well theres the long term traveller who gets a job and stays for weeks or months at places,
Then theres the save a load of money , get a "go anywhere " ticket for the bus or train and travel as much as you can on that ticket method.
Ive done the second one 3 times.
Europe twice (for 4 weeks) ,
USA & canada (10 weeks , clockwise , greyhound , 1995)

reply

No, I like my comfort too much.

reply
