My coronavirus just won't go away

It's now 3 weeks ago since I first started feeling rundown, which was probably the virus.
Two and a half weeks since I realised I was ill.

My sense of taste and smell are probably at 80% now, which is great. It was fully gone at one stage.

But my light head and slight headache just won't seem to go away.

This may be the longest lasting virus I've had. I'm normally a week turnaround for colds and flu.

So this is week 3, and I might not be fully better for another week.

A whole month of feeling 'under the weather'.

I guess your fasting didn't work.

He's fasting at 80% now, which is great.

Maybe it did work and this would have progressed to my lungs. I did have a little bit of a throat problem but it went away. The lungs is the one place you do not want this to go.

more fasting. 👍 👍

How are you doing?

2 days ago, I did drink a lot of coffee, but a few hours later, I could feel my heart beating out of my chest. I felt a weird pain in my left arm. Tightness in my chest. I knew it was probably the coffee but I decided to call Emergency Services. They came to my house, wore masks, and did an ECG. No heart attack! But later when I spoke to the Covid-19 'virtual clinic' doctor, he said he wanted me to drive to the hospital and get checked out.

So I went in, was brought to the Covid-19 ward and got my own room. I was there for about 25 hours. X-ray. Blood and urine samples. Nose/throat swab. They said the lungs look good, blood samples good, and I'll hear back soon about whether the virus is still in my system. I barely slept as I had a IV drip in my arm. Everytime you roll over the alarm sounds. Eventually I learnt how to fix it without hitting the button. They had to gown up every time they came in and then they throw those gowns in the trash.

I slept maybe an hour before they woke me at 4am for another test (the nose jab.)

Not a fun time. I was glad to leave.

Today I am feeling less light headed which is good. Headache has gone down too. But the loss of taste is still there. I really notice it eating flavoured chips like Doritos or Pringles. I can taste the corn or the potato but not the flavouring. Sense of smell also isn't all the way back.

I really hope this hasn't done any permanent damage to these senses. Old people lose these with age but I'm 39 and hope that it will heal itself.

I had something like this 2X last year - no upper congestion, but with a deep cough and total loss of taste and smell. Only once did I have a fever and it only lasted overnight. Who knows what that was, but I just wanted to let you know you will get your taste and smell back - it generally took about a week before it was back to normal.

That's good to know. I'm really lucky not to have congestion or a cough. That is the worst thing for me. I hate that. I hate choking as I'm sleeping on fluid etc.

Sorry to hear you're still having trouble with it. Sounds like you should cut out the caffeine until you are well again. The coronavirus might have made you sensitive to it.

reply

Geez man, get well. You did the right thing going to hospital.

reply

Thanks. I got a call from the doctor today, my last test came back POSITIVE again. This virus just won't go away. They're actually surprised at how long I've been fighting it. I may have had this for over 3 weeks in my body.
