My coronavirus just won't go away

It's now 3 weeks ago since I first started feeling rundown, which was probably the virus.
Two and a half weeks since I realised I was ill.

My sense of taste and smell are probably at 80% now, which is great. It was fully gone at one stage.

But my light head and slight headache just won't seem to go away.

This may be the longest lasting virus I've had. I'm normally a week turnaround for colds and flu.

So this is week 3, and I might not be fully better for another week.

A whole month of feeling 'under the weather'.

reply

So sorry you got it.

I was so sick it was 2 weeks before I could go out to give my dog a walk. The cough, fatigue, and shortness of breath lasted probably 3-4 more weeks.

From what I've read, neither of our recovery times is unusual with this.

Very strange how varied the symptoms can be.

reply

Yeah, I guess if someone's immune system is at it's peak performance it can stop it doing damage. I was feeling tired from a bunch of 6am shifts, meaning I'd be waking up around 4:30am. When I'm tired I catch colds so my immune system was probably not working well.

Are you better? Were you a confirmed case?

I'm glad that I'm a confirmed case, it means when I'm better the fear of catching this will be gone.
Very rare to catch this twice and possibly you can't.

reply

Similar for me. I'd been under duress for 6 or so months. Got a stomach flu about 1.5 months before I got this. It's very unusual for me to get sick at all, let alone twice within a couple of months.

I'm better, thanks. Slight shortness of breath still if I walk up a steep enough hill, otherwise I'm fine.

No, I couldn't get tested. This was early on, early to mid February. I tried to get a test but then they weren't even testing people with active symptoms, never mind people who'd recovered.

I'm kind of glad I can't have it 100% confirmed because it's forcing me to be careful anyway, including getting the regular flu or colds.

I'm glad you're feeling a lot better. Get as much rest and sleep as you can, and honestly plain old aspirin really helped me. Have you taken some?

reply

I don't have any.

reply

Don't you have a neighbour/friend/relative who can pick up a bottle for you? Or even someone who can give you some. Most people keep it on hand.

reply

I'll ask, thanks.

reply

were you both tested/diagnosed w/ the virus ?

im wondering if recovered victims are being contacted for their plasma...

reply

I was not. As I said up yonder, this was back in early/mid February and they weren't really even testing anyone who had active symptoms. I'd assumed it was a regular flu, until I learned about the symptoms about a month later.

I don't know how this works, but I wouldn't mind being tested for antibodies to verify that's what I had and if my blood for that test could help them find a vaccine or otherwise help others, that would be great.

reply

yeah, seems like opportunities might be missed.

here in the US we seem to have lost the ability to manufacture things - like fucking tests.

pisses me off. without tests, how do we back out of this universal quarantine.

MAYBE KOWALSKI HAS THE ANSWER.

reply

Yep. We need to test lots and lots of people. I don't know how this quarantine can end without doing that, or it going on for a very long time. Everyone suffers from that.

KOWALSKI NOSE.

reply

Get a life

reply

😋

reply

No you didn’t

reply

Don’t

reply

I had a nasty illness back in December that made me very sick for three weeks followed by another three weeks to recover to something near normal.

reply

HERPES?

reply

NO KOWALSKI I'VE NEVER HAD STD HERPES. I HAVE HAD SHINGLES THOUGH BUT IT DIDN'T LAST SIX WEEKS.

reply

I HAD A black Eye ONCE after getting punched

reply

WHAT just The ONE ?

reply

Ya it hurt bad in my eye

reply

long ago, i once woke up with a black eye and had absolutely no idea how i got it

i assume whoever gave it to me did, though.

hard drink was involved.

reply

^ this.

reply

how bad was it?, was there like 2-3 days it was really bad?

reply

Two days of bad fever, then really up and down. I got better and then worse, better then worse, it’s not like a normal flu with a predicable trajectory.

reply

You’re a troll

reply

Good luck! Hope you get well soon.

reply

Thanks

You're welcome.

reply

Are you making it up. Your threads seem trollish. If you had coronavirus, you'd be in a hospital instead of posting here.

reply

There's plenty of people that have blah, blah, blah through the virus without medical care. 😔

reply

That's just wrong morally. They should be provided medicare for free in an ideal world.

reply

You've got my vote. 🗳

reply

You're only hospitalised if you require medical intervention. It's like the flu, do you normally check into hospital when you have it?

It's not in my lungs so it's just a pain in ass. I'm bed ridden.

Headache. Dizziness. Loss of sense of taste and smell. Mild fever. Mild diarrhoea. Aches. Mild loss of appetite.

reply

You should really try and get to the local hospital before it gets serious. If you don't do anything it will get serious and you may die.

reply

if its not in your lungs it's probably not corona. just some other demon disease.

reply

I’ve been tested and confirmed. I’m under legal home detention.

reply

i stand corrected. thanks for the info. you are very, very lucky you avoided the lung infection.

reply

I know, and I was freaking out when my throat started to play up. Even if you survive, this can cause permanent lung damage.

reply

I've wondered if I have, because before I knew the coronavirus symptoms, I'd started to wonder if I'd gotten bronchitis or pneumonia (walking or otherwise) from it. It's taken quite a few weeks, but my lungs seem to be either back to normal now, or close to it.

I have been doing a fair amount of deep breathing to help my lungs along. I think that's helped.

reply

Drink plenty of fluids, not just water but water with electrolytes.

Double down on vitmain c and zinc

My body absorbs them better through powder you mix with water and chewables. Pills never worked for me.

Wash you body down with rubbing alcohol once a day. Its says harmful to breath, but just breath alittle in so the alcohol vapor disinfects your lungs a little.

reply

Good idea, I have sea salt so can drink some for my electrolytes.
