In my part of California, there are comparatively few cases, and the rate of infection is rising much more slowly than in the major urban areas.

I am cautiously hopeful that all the sacrifices everyone is making are working, and that my region might possibly be spared the worst effects of the epidemic. Our state and local authorities put "shelter in place" orders in comparatively early, and hopefully that will prevent the kind of explosion of cases that's happening in Italy and New York, and put off the peak of the pandemic until there's some sort of medical treatment for the Coronavirus available. Because there's really no stopping a pandemic from peaking.
