If you're under lockdown...🚶

...what are you doing to pass the time besides being here on MC or watching movies/TV? Are you reading more? Hitting those household chores that get delayed when you're busy? Or have you found something else to occupy your extra time at home?

Me? I'm going to pull out a jigsaw puzzle tomorrow. I have a few that I haven't worked yet. For me, jigsaws are generally a winter activity, but now I think it could be a useful way to pass some time and get away from the computer.

I've also spent more time researching my family history. Going for an extra-long walk is helpful but not always possible, depending on the weather. I've noticed one gentleman in my neighborhood who walks to the grocery store almost every day (I can tell based on the bags he's carrying on the way home). I assume it's one way he gets some exercise. The grocery store is about eight blocks away. Good for him!

I'm busy stressing.

Deep breaths, AK, deep breaths. Hang in there.

Teaching my five year old daughter how to ride a bicycle.

Growing a beard.

reply

I ALREADY HAVE A BEARD...BOY DO I WISH I HAD A FIVE YEAR OLD THOUGH...IN THE LEAST CREEPY WAY POSSIBLE OBVIOUSLY...I HOPE ITS OBVIOUS...

reply

LOL. I know you well enough (with all your daddy/daughter posts) to know what you mean.

reply

5 WAS A GREAT AGE...SOON AS THE WIFE DIES IM DROPPING SEED EVERYWHERE...I LOVE KIDS.

reply

I don't think your five year old daughter would grow a beard. No matter how hard you teach her.

reply

Silly billy.

reply

The hippie era was over with by the 1980s. This is 2020, not 1969.

reply

Beards are somewhat popular these days, from what I've noticed. Don't like them myself, but to each his own.

reply

I've noticed this, too. It seems our society is regressing.

reply

I've just come here after 2HOURS of scrolling tiktok 🥴.

Think I'll drag myself to the kitchen and make some bread.

I lost all the weight I put on at Christmas and now it's all piled back on again. I have no self control 😒🤤🤤🤤

reply

Glenny, before all this mess I lost 23lbs.
I've gained back 14 so far! Guess what I do when I'm nervous?

reply

i'm not on lockdown yet, so my day to day life hasn't really changed. i'm still going into my part time job, still doing basically the same things i've always done.

but i have consciously tried to watch and read light, escapist things. i just don't have the mental grit to watch something brutal or taxing right now. last week, my anxiety level was about an 8.5/10. on the weekend, it was down to about a 6. now it's back to 9 or so.

so i'm watching lots of trashy horror and reading my old philip k dick sci fi novels to have something to escape into.

reply

Where are you in the world damo? Anxiety is an awful affliction. Hope your books are working for you. Stay safe x

reply

i'm canadian, winnipeg to be specific.

i wouldn't say i generally suffer terribly with anxiety. if i do, it's generally at a low, manageable level. though i do have a bunch of other emotional and behavioral problems that i won't bore you with.

but i am definitely worried...trouble sleeping, perpetually vaguely upset and on edge. but aren't we all. or almost all of us, anyway.

reply

I sure am anxious and at a somewhat high level, and this was well before the current crisis. I've passed the point where youth and vigor with little to lose is viable. Like Sam Cooke wrote, it's been too hard living but I'm afraid to die.

reply

If you like trashy horror movies try to get Tubi...there are brief commercials every 20 minutes but they offer a ton of 70s-90s horror films without editing anything out

reply

i am a big user of tubitv. it is a goldmine of nonsense and trash, the kinds of films shot over a weekend in rural arkansas where the cast was paid in beer. ie my favourite kind of trash.

reply

I love it!
Just the last couple of nights I watched Last House On Dead End Street and Caution! Children At Play

Both pretty hard to find elsewhere for free

reply

i don't see a movie called caution! children at play, but i'm in canada and we don't have identical content.

but there is a film streaming called 'beware children at play.' is that what you meant, maybe?

https://tubitv.com/movies/435786/beware_children_at_play

last house on dead end street is now on my watchlist.

thanks!

reply

Oops! Sorry, I meant the one you posted...it was fine, silly fun👍

reply

silly fun is exactly what i'm aiming for right now. it's on my watchlist. thanks!

reply

Anytime Amigo👍

Luckily I have a job where I can work from home

Good for you, family history is important and interesting
My wife and son have been doing jigsaw puzzles, they're doing a 750 piece one now...I get dizzy just looking at the thing!

Yard work is my gig, this overcast, chilly and drizzly weather be damned!
The woodyard is about 12 cords full and I'm expanding the lawn into the treeline

Keeping the house very tidy

'Telecommuting' to work...my computer skills are awful, I'm a schmoozer, this 'telecommuting' thing is not for me and I miss my coworkers a lot

Keep busy Glenny Girl, it's the best thing for us😙

reply

I'm away from my girlfriend which is hard for both of us, so I spend a lot of time talking to her through video chat, just to keep our spirits up. That, playing video games and spending time on the internet as you do.
