What was your previous forum?

I was on filmboards for 8 months, and got so tired of the drama on there.

There's too much favoritism, with staff members being on a first-name basis with posters (some being obvious trolls).

Well, the good thing is I'm here, and all that is behind me. Legit story.

It's the same all over. MODs here have preferences. It's human nature.

reply

I think there's no comparison.
On FB, you have people being stalked on Facebook, followed by the "stalkee" making threads complaining about it, third parties making threads giving their 2 cents, etc.

Mods in this forum are very good. They watch the forum, but they don't intervene unless it's clearly necessary.

It's true that there's users that escalate quickly to name-calling, but that's a very minor issue, and I'd rather have that than being afraid of what you can or can not say in the forum.

imdb-->MC briefly-->reddit briefly-->sports team forum that liked to talk movies/tv as well, but it closed down-->back to MC.

But MC is no imdb.

reply

I tried https://www.themoviedb.org/ but there is nothing going on there.

reply

Yeah, it's pretty disappointing active-wise.

IMDb. I also have accounts at all the other IMDb fallout forums, and occasionally lurk filmboards, but this is the only one of the bunch I participate in.

I also am often on reddit, and once in a while hit up a bunch of other special effects, music, audio engineering, etc forums, most of which I've just been on for ages. On rare occasion, but certainly more often than is healthy, I poke around 4chan.

Before this I was at IMDb and ended up, as many others, registering at all those other places and ending up settling here. I also go to Reddit occasionally for specific shows or topics.

Before IMDb I was at an international forum called Mallfriends and moderated on the USA board. I sometimes got a lot of flack from some Americans for being impartial concerning certain foreigners. I really bent over backwards wanting to treat everyone fairly and not play favorites and they didn't always make it easy..
Being a moderator is a thankless job.

I kept the same name from IMDb.
I don't think I can get into Reddit, and haven't even made an account.
If something were to happen to this site, I'd migrate to MovieForums.
If something happened to both, I'd simply retire from forums altogether.
