Movies You Like w/ No Likable Characters?

It's hard to think of many, but if I had to pick one, it would be "The Incident" (1967). It's a great movie, too, a favorite of mine. It's a straight-forward thriller (Martin Sheen's first role, and possibly Beau Bridges), but it's also allegorical.

Inglorious basterds. The basterds are sadistic killers with little personality and the Nazis are Nazis. Shoshana is revenge driven and I found her unlikeable since every scene has her frowning.

The farmer is likable.

He is like 5 min in the movie and he snitched lol.

"There Will Be Blood"
probably one of the reasons I didn't like this film.

Most of the other examples I see (excluding Clockwork Orange) I did still kind of like some of the characters even if they weren't all good people.

I realize he wasn't a good guy but I had respect for Daniel Plainview.

reply

Plainview was a very charismatic A-hole and I do admire a self made wealthy person...so yep, I hear you

"Bastard in a basket" rant aside. That was F'd up.

Daniel certainly had...issues

I had no problem with Eli's demise.

Goodfellas, Reservoir Dogs, Usual Suspects.

Great movies, mostly unlikable characters👍

Empire State. A bunch of self-absorbed douchebags. Pretty good movie though.

Trainspotting

I like the movie, and as much as I like the actors, all the characters are pretty despicable. Even Spud.
