Surfing old news
As I mentioned in another post, I've been surfing a site that has archived old news reports of local TV stations (the 10pm news, early morning news, local afternoon talk shows, etc.) and yes, it takes me back. Interesting how things have changed in the last 30-40 years. Many of the videos include the commercials.
From July 1985 - according to an ad, the way to cure infertility is to subscribe to Women's Day magazine!! Also in 1985, noticed during a report on another story, a gas station displaying gas prices of $1.15 per gallon.
1982, if I remember right - Dow Jones closed at 874.90.
A report from around the same time about cordless phones. If you were considering buying one, make sure it is returnable. Why? Because there were only about 5 channels available for cordless phones and if a neighbor had a phone using the same channel, you might overhear their conversations and they could hear yours. Also, some phone conversations might be picked up via AM radio. Wow, how tech has changed!
