What is the most distant place from your home that you’ve visited?

I live in MN. I've been to California, Washington state, Florida, Maine, and Hawaii, so I guess the answer is Hawaii. Yep, I've never left the US.

reply

QUEENS,NY AND THE SURROUNDING BURROUGHS....LIVED THERE FOR 2 MONTHS,MET MY NOW WIFE,MOVED HOME TO CALIFORNIA.OTHER THAN THAT...IDAHO,VEGAS.

reply

Not bad. Did you drive from coast to coast?

reply

FLEW...I DIDNT HAVE A LICENSE THEN...LATE BLOOMER IN THAT DEPT...DIDNT GET MY LICENSE UNTIL I WAS 26.

reply

Well, I have a nephew who is in his 40s (OMG, am I that old??) and he does not have a driver's license, so there you go.

reply

MY WIFE IS 55 NOW...NO LICENSE...I DRIVE HER TO AND FROM WORK EVERY DAY.

reply

I like knowing that it can be done - no license. My nephew works at a university and also lives near campus, so yes, he makes it work. He's not afraid to walk places, or use public transit, so good for him.

reply

Bless you

reply

I can't choose between Hawaii or Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. I think Hawaii is further away, geographically speaking.

reply

Where did you visit in Hawaii? We (meaning my ex and I) visited Oahu, Maui, the Big Island, and Kauaʻi I liked .Kauaʻi the best because it was quieter than the other islands. I'm sure it's all very different today.

reply

Maui. My parents visited the islands several times when my brother and I were very little, because my grandparents had a time-share place they could stay....until it was wiped out by a hurricane. I don't remember much beyond walking into the ocean with mom in our bathing suits.

reply

Around 2,500 kilometres ( 1,550 miles ). Melbourne to central North Queensland.

Australia is huge, so much larger than most folks think. I used to have a penpal who lived in Queensland. Townesville, specifically. I enjoyed chatting with him. He ended up coming to the US after meeting a gal (online) from Oklahoma. She treated him like crap and last I knew, he was trying to get back to Australia.

reply

Yes I have never been to Perth (Western Australia), it's just too far away with too much nothing in between. Australia is a little bit smaller than America but of course most of Australia is arid wasteland. I think America would be a wonderful place, so much variety and beauty.

reply

Do you have any plans to visit the US? On your bucket list, perhaps? I agree that there is lots of variety here. I would like to visit Australia some day. Not that it's likely, but one can dream...it's what I would do if I won a $million. Australia and New Zealand are top of my list.

reply

No, travel is a young person's game and then I didn't have the money. Now I have the money but I'm too much of a wreck to be able to travel comfortably. Personally I would go to Europe before Australia, so much more to see and do and in a smaller space !

reply

True, Europe has more variety in a smaller area.

reply

Which countries in Europe would you like to visit?

reply

England and Wales, Ireland, Scotland, France, Germany, Holland, Russia, Austria, Italy, the former Yugoslavia and Greece.

reply

Australia from England last August via Singapore. Flew back via San Fran, so ended up flying round the world.

reply

You are a world traveler, Andy!

reply

I am from Europe, the most distant place I have been was Mexico.

PS: MN is Minnesota, right?

reply

Yes, MN is Minnesota. I usually try not to abbreviate because not everyone knows, and we do have chatters from outside the U.S.

reply

That would either be Greece or Turkey. Whichever is furthest away from Australia.

reply

That's a long haul, either place.

reply

I love to travel. Ive been all over the world but the farthest places I've visited are China and then two years ago I took a trip to Africa that included a safari just outside of Kruger.

reply

Capri, Italy.
