Always keep your computer mute

But don't press the mute button, turn the volume all the way down. When you're on a website with sound, slowly turn the volume up. When you're done, turn it back down. I know it's not entirely convenient, but it could save your ears. Some websites are incredibly loud.

Because if you just mute it, when you unmute it, the volume will be the same was it was before you muted it.

Ah, okay. That makes sense. I never have mine very loud anyway though, because, like you said, some websites yell at you.

I've got headphones plugged in, so I only hear sound when I choose to.

I have mine on mute all the time. Even when you want to read an article, some commercial starts playing in the background, too annoying.
