A Wise Movie Chat User Once Said

A wise MC user once said:

“Blessed are those who include the year with a movie title.”

I must say I agree one hundred percent! My personal taste goes something like my favorites are movies made in the 70’s, then 80’s, 60’s, 90’s and so on. I’ve watched so many great films that were mentioned here and an included date makes decisions so much easier.

Does anyone else feel this way?

reply

Absolutely! That's why I've gotten into the habit of including the date when I mention a movie. Yes, it's a courtesy to others which simplifies a search.

reply

Absolutely. It even helps with movies that have similar titles. If I say I love "A Star is Born", you'd have to guess which one I'm taking about.

reply

Yes it may seem pedantic to some but when you consider that many films have been made two, three or more times it is helpful to include the date so there is no confusion.

reply

I remember who started that trend here.

reply

Who was it?

she's no longer here.

But her legacy lives on.

reply

sure does.

reply

It is certainly a helpful habit so other users can find the right title

reply

100%

My cable company ALWAYS mislabels the year of a movie if it is more than 25 years old (Comcast)

Many many movies that I know were made in the 1980s(the last one I watched Legend( T Cruise/Ridley Scott) was labeled 2005)..bugs the hell out of me.

Why are they mislabeled? Could be a mistake or maybe it is done on purpose because ratings are lower for older shows.

reply

I might not always include the year, but if I know there's been a remake, I'll say if I mean the original or the later version.

I do sometimes find it frustrating when someone recommends a movie when there are several with the same title and I have no idea which one they mean.

reply

Include the year with the movie title and don't eat yellow snow. Wise words.
