Any Prometheus fans?

What a great movie, it has it’s flaws but overall stunning.

reply

No, you're the only one.

It was ok

I believe that R Scott wanted to do a trilogy..but the last movie was so dark and box office light that it might have killed the final chapter.

I liked it a lot more than most people seem to have. I appreciate that they were trying to do something different. There are some interesting ideas and brilliant aesthetics there, and I can overlook a lot of the dumber elements and get into it. I wish they had continued to develop these ideas in the sequel but it seems they capitulated to the clamor of the dumbest and most boring feedback. Covenant was ass.

reply

Yeah agreed, huge disappointment. We were all so excited to see the Engineers’ home planet.

reply

I have very mixed feelings about that one.

I didn't really like the direction they went in explaining the origin of the xenomorphs. The space jockey turning out to be pretty much a human in a space suit. The decision making of the supposedly elite scientists. That's a partial list.

I really liked some of the performances, though. Rapace and Fassbender. It did deliver on the monster action, which is important for a monster movie. The movie is beautiful, as you would expect from Ridley Scott.

I'd give it a thumbs up, but just barely.

reply

You didn’t like the engineers? One of the best parts of the movie for me. Easily the best take on ancient aliens put to film.

reply

My fav quote about this movie; 'Prometheus? Not even the writers knew what that was about.'

reply

Haha. It wandered but I think it was fairly focused, just an ancient aliens take with some stunning set pieces.

reply

i kinda hate it, find it annoying & even a bit offensive, with its chariots of the gods creationist plotting, contemptuous nods towards 'darwinism' (their words) and all that.

yet i've watched it quite a number of times and every time it does pop up somewhere it's a safe bet that i'll watch it again.

does it mean much to say you don't like a movie, when you watch it repeatedly and have what i can only describe as a good time every time you do?

reply

I think you like it

reply

i kinda do. and i hate myself for it!

reply

Hey man it’s ok to have guilty pleasures. I agree it has some painfully bad flaws in the screenplay but the incredible set pieces more than make up for it making it very rewatchable. What’s your fav part? I think the Engineer taking off in his spaceship was one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen.

reply

favourite scene? hmmm - it would have to be shaw getting an 'appendectomy' (i think that's what she had to request, no?) to get her alien spawn removed. memorable moment!

reply

Yes the c section was amazing

reply

I thought Prometheus was pretty good. I rated it an 8/10.
