Now I remember why I don't like going to the cinema.

Today I went to the 12 noon showing, knowing full well that the cinema would be quiet. A guy sat in the row behind me, but a few seats down to my left decided to put his legs between the gaps of the back of the chair in front of him and proceeded to put his shoes on the armrests of the chair in front.

This is disgusting! Who knows what he's stepped in outside! Eeeewwww!

Do ushers no longer do walk throughs?

reply

They're not interested; minimum wage - minimum effort.

I can't remember the last time I saw an usher do a walk through. Maybe when Batman first came out? lol

This is what you have to do https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=61iZXRCAL6s

I actually did something similar about 10 years ago - it worked.

I feel you OP. It seems every time we go to the theater someone sits right next to us or behind us and proceeds to cough or sneeze or play on their phone. One guy sat behind us and farted and another guy, another time, sat right next to us and proceeded to film the movie (It) on his phone.

A different kind of jailbait.

what movie did you see?

reply

The Rise Of Skywalker which I thought was a massive improvement on The Last Jedi.

If you aren't an absolute beta, just elbow their feet, it always works. Maybe a bit more dangerous in an empty theater, but why not just move at that point?

He was actually about 4 seats down, so it wasn’t close enough to affect me directly, but it was just the thought that he could’ve stepped in something and some poor sods going to sit there eventually, so yuck!

Its not ideal , but its wayyy down the list of reasons i dont go to the cinema.

Personally though , i dont walk around with dogshit on my shoes , regardless of wether or not im going to put them up on the furniture.

The last time I went to a movie theater was when I was the film Lion.

That's why I only go to theaters like this one now.

Full recliners and so much room in the aisle that they couldn't kick the back of your chair if they wanted to.

Luckily he wasn’t that close to me, but the soles of his shoes were on the armrests of the seat in front of him - gross!

A common bad experience I used to have in the 90s and early 2000s as a kid, were tall people sitting in the rows in front of me. I kept having their damned, big fat heads blocking my view. It was partially due to being short, (which is still an issue for me as an adult), and the way the theater was set up. It appears many pre-2000s theaters were built with a gently sloping floor, and all the seats were technically at the same height, and if you had to fight for your seat, you're screwed if a tall person is sitting in front of you, because there aren't any more seats available to move to.

Just today, I was reading an article about some poor mom who took her kids to see Frozen II, and some female dingus with the world's tallest topknot was sitting in front of her, blocking her view. Just one more reason to hate that stupid hairstyle. I always thought women who wore topknots looked stupid, and they look like they have penises growing out of the tops of their heads.

It's not an issue at many post-2000s theaters nowadays, because now they have tiered seating, with comfy, padded chairs you can back into :). Then it doesn't matter if the person sitting in front of you is tall. They're still lower than you and you can see over their heads.

Two of the worst experiences I had involved kids. Keep in mind that I love kids, but I hate it when other people do such a shitty job of parenting, right in front of me.

When we went to see "Rogue One," I had that problem. It was one of those theaters that had a setup where there were 2 seats, an aisle with a railing, a big group of seats in the middle, another aisle with a railing, and then two more seats. I was seated on the right side next to one of my parents. The rest of my family sat across the aisle from us. For the first 30 minutes of the movie, I kept seeing parents walking in and out, in and out, in and out with their kids. It's like, didn't you idiots buy enough snacks and piss before the movie?! Quit it! Everyone eventually settled down, but it was annoying seeing these black human shapes distracting me from the movie.

However, the worst theater experience of all time for me, was seeing "Beauty and the Beast" in 2017. There were a ton of idiot parents in the audience that had this dumbass idea "Hey! It be a Disney movie! Let's take dem kids wit us!" They forgot this was not a cartoon designed for kids under 6, it was a live-action movie rated PG, and yet they bring their noisy, loud, restless, undisciplined 2-5-year-old brats into the theater, where the little shits run around screaming for the first half of the movie! I had to concentrate really hard on the film so I wouldn't end up roaring at all of them for being such dumbass, shitty parents. This was not a goddamned daycare! Needless to say, I was glad when it was over.
