Let's talk about Vampires...

We've all seen dozens of these movies, so which do you think is the best?

I prefer The Lost Boys (87) above all the others
It had a great soundtrack, some fun young actors, Jami Gertz could not have been prettier, the sets including a massive comic book shop, a creepy vampire lair and a cool little ranch style house were terrific...Santa Cruz might have been the 'mass murder capital of the world' but with a boardwalk and party scene like that who's complaining?!

What's the best vampire movie in your opinion?

A good vampire film to see is Grave of the Vampire (1972) with William Smith & Michael Pataki. Some interesting action and twists. (It's now in the Public Domain so it's relatively easy to watch)

Monster Squad is a very fun romp into the genre. Still holds up even today.

More modern I would have to say 30 Days of Night. It brings vampires back to what they were intended to be: Movie monsters not heroes and lovers.

I've never seen The Lost Boys. Am I missing out?

Vampires aren't really a genre I'm into, but a couple I can remember liking are "30 Days of Night" and "I Am Legend" (book was better.) Omega Man (1971) was good as well and based on the book I mentioned.

The Lost Boys is a classic 80s movie (if you love the 80s it's a must see)

I Am Legend and Omega Man were both great fun...Two other versions of the book are I Am Omega (07) and The Last Man on Earth (64), the latter being a very good Vincent Price chiller

reply

Do I Am Legend and Omega Man fall into that category? I've always thought of them as Dystopian Future (or am I being picky?).

reply

Price uses garlic and stakes on the creatures in The Last Man but you have a point, Dacascos is tangling with mutants in Omega

A very cute vampire movie almost nobody knows about and I particularly love:

And yeap, 'cute' is the right word. This trailer is not very accurate (damn marketing guys...). The movie is more of a romantic comedy than a horror movie.
