shareSimple fun, eh? We also had those writing boards where you could write or draw something with the stylus, then lift the plastic sheet and it would erase everything. I can't remember what they were called though.

Yeah, I had one of those too. I remember an incident where I was playing with it and a neighbor suddenly came out on his porch and demanded, "Hey, what's that kid writing down?!" It's really amusing and odd now in hindsight, speculating about what he could have been so paranoid about.
shareNeighbors can be weird. Or is it paranoia? Once upon a time, when my siblings and I were quite young, we had a neighbor couple who were, shall we say, over protective of their property. Every time we were outside playing they would spy on us, and if we got too close to their yard, they'd yell at us. I don't know what they thought we were going to do, but whatever. One time we noticed Mr Grumpy sitting with his back to the window while reading the paper. But! Along with the newspaper, he was holding a mirror in his hand so that he could keep an eye on us. Sheesh.
And then there was the day that my dad saved Mr Neighbor's life. Mr Neighbor was standing on his front porch, tossing peanuts in the air and catching them in his mouth. One time it went wrong and he started to choke on a peanut. My dad ran over and did a sort of Heimlich maneuver on him and dislodged the peanut. Not that it changed anything though - they still yelled if we got too close to the property line.
I can’t believe the neighbors didn’t warm up a little after your dad’s life saving maneuver. Geezz

shareThere was something we had like that but it had 2 knobs and it was filled with dusty gray sand or something. You could draw a design and then shake it up to erase.

shareMy favorite toy of my childhood in the early 70s were the Adventure Team version of GI Joe.
My favorite toy of the lates 70s and early 80s was the Atari 2600.
I remember having a toy gun in early 70s that was made out of stamped metal and look like a futuristic machine gun. It had a battery powered motor in it that when you pressed the trigger not only made a rat-a-tat sound it also generated smoke. It was probably giving me cancer. :-)
I spend a lot of time playing with Manta Force.
