Tough call from those choices.
It's definitely not the Colors, Spider-man or the Before trilogy.
And the new Apes is good but not great.
Since Godfather, Star Wars and TDK fade in their conclusions, I'd say it's a toss up between LOTR and Dollars.

Di Leo's “Milieu Trilogy” is my current favorite.
I think The Godfather is undisputed as the best trilogy eventhough the third one is a touch weaker than the other two, but it gives finality to the closure. It feels great AFTER you watched the first two, but as a stand alone movie yeah it wasn't as good.
