Croft plays the 'rural Romanian farmboy, act...it's a very Balki Bartokomous level performance complete with intentional grammatical errors and absurd cultural misunderstandings
I liked him quite a lot, he really slayed me
But some of his very bad 'jokes' got him in trouble here as they were crude and unfunny...some Mod or other pulled his plug
Amusing that he wound up at a different chat site with several of our MC cast offs who pushed for his ban and demanded his head...that bunch seems to enjoy him all over again lol
But it was a joke? He was clear about this? Seems a bit mild considering one or two other things I've seen. Case in point um, well, me for example (god I really should quit calling myself out) and someone who recently called for people's children to mauled by powerful canines. I'm not demanding for these to get the boot (I'm truly repentant and I don't believe that the other poster was exhibiting insanity, simply speaking in the heat of the moment), just pointing out the apparent double standard.

Yes, he had attempted some unfunny jokes. But he was also making a sock account, pretending to be a woman.
Well, I didn't personally have any lenghty discussions with this female persona, but apparently some did, probably in rather flirtatious manner, idk.
Then he got caught and he admited it openly and apologized. I believe this was the real catalyst of why he was banned forever, not because of the unfunny jokes.
That said, he wasn't directly banned because of the sock account incident, mind you. He was still here for a few months, I guess, to be finally banned forever for reasons I was not familiar with. Probably another unfunny joke, but I'm not entirely sure.
All I did was ask why a seemingly innocuous thread was disappeared without trace after fellow posters greeted him with so much familiarity. It upset hownos enough to originally threaten not to come back for some time, perhaps indefinitely.
I politely asked for a moderator to comment, I know they can, and instead I was ignored.
It only took 5 hours to piece together a second hand explanation from three people.

Now, I didn't read the original welcome back thread, but I did see the next thread where croft protested why the hell his thread was deleted.
The suspicious thing is that I thought it was not how the O.G. croft guy would write, in his Romanian persona, whether it was true or not. He wrote in natural English, not the broken grammar and misspellings he usually had.
So, I believe, this was a copycat account made to troll people.
That said, if I was not mistaken, the username was alice_croft. Which is weird, because that was supposedly already banned forever.
So how come that username came out again, and used by, I presume, other person.
My guess is that it was probably a joke thread by a hacker or a rogue Moderator even Jim himself. This is, I think, why you haven't got a clear answer from the Mods here. They might still investigating how this could've happened.
Howevee, all this tin-foil conspiracy theory is based on my feeble memory of wheter the account used was the real O.G. account or just a similarly named, like alice-croft or croft_alice or something.

But I got the gist of it. Yeah it could explain alot. So basically they probably got hacked, right? And who wants to admit that. Sounds like he could be a complicated guy. Or got duped and framed. Or... could be suffering from split personalities. Which is nowhere near as cool as some folks think. Which goes back to the "complicated guy" theory.
I just hope hownos comes back.
I just saw his other posts. It is indeed the original account with thousands of postcount number that was supposed to be banned already! Weird. Most probably it's a rogue moderator trying to pull a joke.
shareStratego said he saw it too. I'm sure it's the one he used to throw up that thread. What bothers me is that at least 8 of us asked for an explanation from the moderators (72 posts in 7 hours) and we were ignored. Embarrassment? I dunno.

Well I did get an explanation from one of our fellow posters and, speaking from a third person perspective, it does seem to be a bit of a double standard. That being said, there is some truth in your advice on authority, though I feel I should mention that authority that is not questioned on discrepancies rarely correct their missteps.
I honestly appreciate the fact that you care enough to not want me to vanish.

I'm doing my best to be polite in voicing my interest in another poster's concern about a thread that "vanished" without having apparently violated any rules. I would do the same if had happened to you.
