Gender Reveal Parties

Does anyone else hate them as much as I do? How overplayed / annoying have these things become with couples trying to one up each other?

reply

So a bunch of people take time out of their day, get dressed, drive to a place, wait for guests to arrive, just to see something turn either pink or blue? No thanks. Baby showers I understand because you're giving expensive gifts to help out the parents. Birthdays I understand because you're celebrating another year of life for someone. Gender reveal parties are a celebration of a gender. That's it. Should there also be name reveal parties?

reply

Should they include additional colors like grey for non-binaries. Some parents may not want to lump their children into one of the two traditional genders. Maybe there can be blue with pink stripes for boys who will identify as girls and vice versa.

reply

Ok just change the name to "genital reveal party" then. Just show the guests the baby's genital and do party around it.

reply

Now when you say "do a party around 'it'", the "it" you're referring to is...?

reply

Name reveal parties. Right handed or left handed reveal parties. Hair color reveal parties. Attached or detached earlobe reveal parties... The possibilities are endless.

reply

As a matter of fact, they should have parties for the days they are planning parties so they can party during the entire process.

reply

Party reveal party!

reply

(Everyone gathers in a room.)

"Surprise! We're having a party next week. Hope you all can come."

reply

"But now, in the meantime... let's party while we're waiting for that party!"

reply

I don't hate them but I don't see the need for them. When my wife was pregnant we specifically told the doctor we didn't want to know. It annoyed a lot of people who kept asking us.

reply

YEAH..THE PARTY AND THE PARTY THROWERSARE PRETTY EASY TO HATE...MY WIFE AND I FOUND OUT WE WERE HAVING A GIRL SO WE COULD PREPARE AND GET THE RIGHT SHIT.JUST CALLED OR TOLD EVERYONE...NOW IF YOU DO A COMBO GENDER REVEAL/BABY SHOWER..THATS COOL,I GUESS.

reply

Didn't know it was a thing. I guess any excuse to try and extort more gifts out of people and post photos on facebook.

reply

Yeah, they're dumb.

reply

If I ever got invited to one, I would laugh for a long time, and then respond saying I'd be too busy watching Netflix to attend. And also I hope your baby is ugly.

reply

I'd never heard of them before the last few weeks owing to the incidents that have occurred

Seems pretty self indulgent and silly to me

Some unfortunate woman lost her life because the rocket casing for the reveal bomb hit her. Absolutely tragic. Another reveal pyrotechnics caused a massive wildfire that destroyed homes and properties. These escalations should end this mindless, trashy trend once and for all.

reply

I'm still not sure what explosives have to do with babies and pregnant women...people are weird!
