Do you read the Bible or ever read one?

I haven't and have absolutely no interest in it.

reply

I've read passages and studied it a bit in scripture class at school, but it's not for me. I found its supernatural themes disturbing.

reply

It's actually quite a violent book I've heard.

reply

I am an agnostic but there is some good stuff in the Bible. I own one and dip into it from time to time.

Romans 11:32 - For God has consigned all men to sin so that he might have mercy on them all.

Matthew 7:6 - Give not that which is holy unto the dogs. Neither cast your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet and turn and rend you.

Psalm 23 - Yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil, for thou art with me.

I'm Atheist and I read it once. It's general knowledge.

reply

Even more than general knowledge it is one of the foundation stones upon which Western Civilisation was built.

reply

True.

reply

EXACTLY MY ANSWER.I READ IT ALL THE WAY THROUGH IN MY EARLY 20'S JUST AS RESEARCH SO TO SPEAK.

reply

Yes, I have read the entire Bible multiple times.

reply

I don't read fiction.

reply

We're talking about the Bible. You must have the wrong thread.

reply

I've read and studied it though not as much lately. It fits very well if you look at the overall picture. I've heard the Bible referred to as God's love story for mankind. It's still relevant today as the guide book for life, especially the New Testament. There's lots of good stuff in the Old Testament, too, for me I especially enjoy the book of Psalms.

reply

I have a bible but I rarely read it. To me it is gibberish, no offence to those who believe in it.

reply

You may not believe this but it was pretty much like that for me, too but when I decided to actually seek God, it literally opened up for me and I was very surprised and able to understand it.

reply

I don't believe in a "god", but I don't have a problem with those who are believers. I believe in logic and reasoning. No offense.

reply

I'm not offended and I get it. My point is, we all have times in our lives where we may be unsure. If you are ever in that state of mind and you'd like to try, do so with a willing heart and an open mind. He says to seek Him with all your heart and you will find Him.

reply

Your choice.

reply

Huh?

reply

I'm actually in the process of re-reading it. It's a hot mess. Not the book itself, but the people in the book. I say this all as a Christian. Even God pretty much said "What have I done?" after making people in chapter one.

reply

Oh yes! There are great tales of intrigue, drama, love, war, etc. I'm also a Christian.

reply

I think more than all of that, you're gonna be left shaking your head at the folly. Centuries of silliness that we can all hopefully learn from.
