People said something similar 2000ish years ago, and that turned out fine.

I don’t really have a problem with this morally, I just find it completely gimmicky, unnecessary and unfair to living actors who need the work.

This won’t entice me to see the film at all. If I want to see Dean, I’ll watch Giant.

reply

This makes me think of the scene in Tropic Thunder “I’m the dude playing the dude disguised as another dude”

reply

Gee, I guess Hollywood doesn't need actual live actors anymore, like the robots that are taking jobs on the assembly line - just CGI every role. 🙄 I think I have a permanent eye-roll now. 🙄 Sheesh.

reply

this is stupid.

reply

It will suck, because current CGI technology isnt good enough to replace living human actors.

This is going to be a piece of shit that will make a little money from the curious.

reply

Ooh, it's getting there. CGI Christopher Lee in Rogue One was reasonably convincing.

But just because you can do it, doesn't mean you should. Dean's legacy doesn't really need a gimmicky coda like this. Find the next James Dean instead.

reply

You mean Peter Cushing?

reply

Yes, of course I did! Stupid me getting my old thesps confused.

reply

I wasn't sure that it was an honest mistake or that you were being sarcastic as if the CGI was so bad Peter Cushing looked like Christopher Lee haha

reply

Actually, I thought that the CGI Tarkin and Leia in "R1" were creepy and unconvincing.

And that's why I said the technology isnt there yet - if "Star Wars" cant do it, nobody can.

Don't think we deserve the Big A for this, but it IS odd.
