All right guys, I’m struggling here...

I need y’all to help me. A few weeks ago we had a discussion about our rating systems and I made changes but now I am stuck with two rating systems and don’t know which one to use.

Question: which system do you think makes more sense between system 1 and 2?

System 1:
10: Masterpiece/ Favourite
9: "A" Awesome!
8: Very Good
7: Good
6: okay
5: Mediocre
4: Poor
3: Bad
2: Awful
1. Did not finish

System 2:
10: Perfect
9: Excellent
8: Great
7: Good
6: Average
5: Below average
4: Bad
3: very bad
2: Awful
1:Insulting

I vote for system 1

System 1

System 1 seems better, I would maybe throw in a few more amusing definitions like you did with 1. Did not finish. Like 5 could just be "meh" or "was ok while waiting for first coat of paint to dry" etc.

Also, I am confused, how do we rate films on here? I can't see the option for doing that?

reply

on the films page, upper right yellow star then blue 6.8/10, or whatever rating.
directly under this rating it says 'view on IMDB' click on that to rate the film. You must have an imdb account.

reply

Thanks. So it doesn't rate them on here just IMDB?

yes

System 1 but 1 is "Insulting" would be better. "Did not finish" can mean many things, from utterly terrible or just because the video cassette jammed.

Use for what? This is why 10 point systems don't make sense. Everything 5 and below blurs together. 4 point systems have a more useful distribution and force you to make choices. Look on IMDb, tv shows are all skewed to 8,9,10.

System 1 works better for me.
