Parasite: Excellent Film

This is an excellent film! I give it 8.5/10, and believe there will be Oscar nominations. Do yourself a favor and see it in a cinema with other people.

I saw it. It's really good at first but ending is weak in my opinion. 7/10.

I disagree. I think the ending was amazing, and I just discovered that it's on the list of probable nominees for Best Picture Oscar for 2020.

It won't win.

it's probably a bit of a long shot for a foreign language film to win, but on the gold derby site they have parasite as the film with the 5th best shot at winning the best picture, with 10/1 odds.

and it's currently metacritic's highest rated film of the year.

https://www.metacritic.com/browse/movies/score/metascore/year/filtered

who knows? it's just received a wide release, and it's doing very good business for a foreign language film. it's more likely that one of the more obvious candidates will take it (your once upon a times, your irishmans, etc...) but parasite can't be completely written off.

& even if it doesn't, it's clearly being held by a lot of people as a great film & one of the best of the year.

Well, if they nominate 10 films, statistically it has only a 10% chance.

I've been dying to see this. Will have to wait for the dvd as it's not showing where I am

Bummer.

i went to see it yesterday.
but the theatre set up the wrong subtitles. they somehow managed to screen the french version of the film.

i was so annoyed! not because they made a mistake, really. until robots rise up and take over, things will be run by humans, and humans will always make mistakes. that's a given. i was more bothered that, after i ran out & flagged an employee to let them know there was an issue, they let the movie continue to play. i sat there waiting for someone to come in and give us an update, tell us what was going on. after 20 minutes or so of continued french subtitles, i decided i'd rather just go off and do something else with the rest of my day. they gave me my refund, but it still bugs me that they wouldn't say 'here's what happened, & we're working on it,' or 'sorry, there's nothing we can do, but here's a refund for your trouble.'

but i'm going back to catch an afternoon screening at the same theatre today, hopefully with the proper subtitle track this time.

So you think the robots won't ever make any mistakes?

😎

PS Good luck on getting the correct subtitles!

PPS Remember 2001.

reply

i have more faith in robots than i do in people!

i'm leaving to catch it in about 40 minutes. if they don't get it right this time, i will be very upset!

reply

Hope the subtitles were correct!

And perhaps you need to interact with some more people?

reply

they got it right.

i absolutely loved it. fully of surprises in the most pleasing way.

reply

Outstanding! Glad they got it right so you could enjoy this excellent film! Are you from Korea by any chance?

😎

reply

no, i'm just a boring old canadian who likes german prog rock & adopted the lead singer of the great german group 'can' as my username.

reply

Okay, I took a shot. BTW, I like Canada!

Probably win Best Foreign film.

reply

That's what I thought, but on www.indiewire.com, they listed it as a favorite to get a Best Picture nomination.

You should see Burning also. Another good S Korean movie.

Yes I've heard of that one, thanks. 7.6 on IMDb, and **** from Sheila O'Malley on RE.com.
I think I'll add that to my Netflix list.
