The best years for film stock

Which years you consider your favorite with regards to the look of film stock in films?

I am curious about your suggestions.

I know personally that 1955 and 1966 had some of the most beautifully looking films ever.

The 40's through to the early 60's.

I like all of the "screwball" comedies which were made in the 1930s an 1940s

reply

Do you like them as films? Or only their look?

Some of the most beautiful looking films I dont like much at all, only the way they look. That's what the topic is about.

reply

I can tell if I will like a film within seconds of it starting. I am not up with the technical terms or anything but it comes down to the general look of a film. Often I can tell if I will like it or not before the acting even starts.
