How often do you stay to watch the end credits?

For me, almost never. I'll stay if there's a really interesting song or check where something was filmed. But even then I'll mostly check IMDb.

All the time.

It depends how badly I need to pee.

Whenever I watch a Marvel movie, I always wait for the post credits scene and when I go with a friend who loves to do that always expecting something extra to watch after the credits even if it’s not a marvel movie.

She always wants to see if there is something extra to the movie after the movie ends. She always has that hope.
Me unless it’s Marvel I know when the film ends it ends period

I don't usually in the theatre, but I often will at home. If I do stay when I'm in the theatre I won't stay in my seat.

reply

Good point. You either sit and wait for the crowd to leave or you tried to beat everyone else to the exit before a line forms.

It comes from working in a theatre when I was a teenager. It was so nice to be able to get the theatres cleaned right away on busy nights. If you have 100 people still watching credits until the very end and you have to clean up all the popcorn and then mop in several places and there's a huge line up out side, you don't do as good of a job.

But maybe things have changed in the last 25 years lol

If I go to a movie then it’s going to be something I really want to see so I do stay and watch the credits. I’m sure I’ve been to a movie theater less than 10 times in the past 10 years.

reply

A long time ago I used to enjoy watching the credits, in the way someone else stated. I've sat through a film and I want to pay respect to the people who put their effort into it, and something interesting might come up. I do like seeing what music was used, especially if I am familiar with it.
But now there are just too many people involved and they all get some credit. It's pointless.

Have you ever noticed how Technicolor still gets name-dropped in the credits. It makes you realize that not only are they still around, but they're still very important for filmmaking. They must have their hands in everything.

If I’m not mistaken I think my cable box boots up with a Technicolor splash screen after a power outage.

reply

That doesn't sound surprising at this point. Even with color TV, some more color editing can be added on later before what's to be shown on screen is ready for everyone to see.

Me too. When I was younger, I liked sitting through the ending credits. Now I watch many movies in a week and sitting through the credits just seems like a waste.

reply

What's even more annoying is often on TV they will either speed through the credits or split the screen so that you really can't watch them. Maybe I don't care to watch them, but it's pretty arrogant to treat them like they don't deserve to be there. Shows with brief credits I can't even catch who one of the co-stars was, (like Gunsmoke on TVLand).
It just feels like an obvious manipulation to avoid any dead air time that doesn't have content or commercials. Give us a chance to breathe, for goodness sake.

reply

The disrespect. I've seen them show entire ending credits that scroll for three seconds. It's like a cheap way to avoid criticism instead of just cutting it completely.

reply

I'll stay put almost all the time for the music, especially if it's by John Williams. I find listening helps me think about what I've watched.

If I’m by myself I watch from the very beginning of the movie to the very end when the screen goes blank. If I’m on a date I leave when my date wants to leave.
