I'm gonna be glued to the TV tomorrow watching the Canadian Election.

Anyone else watching?

It looks like a Liberal minority government!

reply

I feel bad for Alberta.

reply

Thanks, but may I ask why you feel sorry for us?

reply

The Liberals will be relying on the NDP for support in parliament who are vowing to fight the TMX pipeline. I guess the Conservatives would support the Liberals on this one issue.

Meanwhile the layoffs continue

reply

Okay, I wasn't sure in which regard.

Although, it is worth noting that although oil companies are laying off employees, they still seem to be making profits. https://huskyenergy.com/news/release.asp?release_id=1742257

So.....I think Alberta needs to embrace this new reality and perhaps feel sorry for ourselves that we had a conservative government for 40 years that failed to do anything to prevent the pain from this.

You guys are lucky. At least your watching people worth watching. I have to avoid the news for obvious reasons.

I like to have a look at some of the fringe parties:

4248 people voted for the Communist Party
4492 people voted for the Marxist-Leninist Party
852 voted for the Radical Marijuana Party - I guess they are too stoned to realize its already legal
507 people voted for the National Citizens Alliance which is another name for the Nazi Party.

👍

i almost got off my butt to vote for the libertarian candidate in my riding, sorry for blatantly putting my own political leanings on the table. they managed to scrape together about 8k votes, which is really quite pathetic. but at least there's still more libertarians than communists in canada. i guess that's a feather in our cap.

I was up til 2am. (Atlantic Time)

Justin Trudeau won the election!

reply

I am going to put my head back in the sand. I am glad it's over.

reply

I guess he had no competition???

reply

He was held to a minority. The Conservative leader was a dud.

reply

I saw an little on the news this morning he didn't do well.

The media were saying it's because of his black face days. It has turned supporters against him. I'm not Canadian but I'm having trouble buying that. Could it just be that people have gotten wise to him?

reply

It has nothing to do with blackface. That is such a cop-out from the *liberal* media as usual. Canadians felt betrayed by him and that he didn't live up to his promises. He lost the popular vote for a reason.

What's funny is that Trudeau mentioned in his victory speech that Canadians decided to vote against division and fear. Um, Canada is more divided than ever. Numerous discussions of Western Canada talking about separating from rest of Canada have been popping up all over Facebook. Morever, the Bloc Quebecqois won an alarmingly high number of seats and this is the province that wants to separate from Canada.

Trudeau is so out of touch with reality with Canadians. That's why people don't like him.

reply

Thanks I thought it was the case. He does seem more like an air head leftie. The Legt always do the worst in elections in places they have had power.

reply

It's interesting that you are calling canadian media *liberal* as almost all of the print media has a right wing bias.

reply

Look at that Bloc Quebecois though. They did the best out of any party and gained triple the seats! No way would they pick Jagmeet Singh because he is Sikh and wears a turban. I hate to say it but Quebec is a very racist province.
