Do you take daily vitamins/supplements?

Not super doses, I take

Vitamins A, B complex, extra B-12, C, D, E
Fish Oil
Magnesium
Beet Root
Turmeric
Fruit/Vegetable capsules

reply

C/D

reply

If taking Vitamin D, make sure it's the D3 form as D2 is not as good.

reply

Vitamin D just doesn't seem to agree with me for some reason. I was taking this product and it gave me the most intense anxiety I've ever experienced - and anxiety is not something I really deal with. Looking into it, its not that uncommon.

reply

I only take D3 1000 mcg daily because Doc recommended it based on my blood work.

reply

Multivitamin. More specifically, the "Orange Triad" brand which is loaded with vitamin B12. https://ca.bodybuilding.com/store/clabs/orangetriad.html?cb1571099089414=CA
Fish Oil
Vitamin D3

Have you noticed when you take B vitamins your pee turns into a bright neon green or yellow color? Really trippy.

I should start taking magnesium too. I hear it gives you vivid dreams. I think it's best to take it with calcium?

reply

Can't comment on everything in Orange Triad, but I take a higher dose of B12 (1000 mcg) and haven't noticed what you mention. I do remember urine being bright after taking a pack of vitamin supplements that used to be by the register in a convenience store. Probably too high a dose.

I take 200 mcg Magnesium and do have vivid dreams, have no idea if Magnesium is the cause. It may be the 500 ml of vodka. I don't take a calcium supplement.

Go here and see if there is something similar to Orange Triad, I trust this company and their prices are excellent

I do not take them
I drink lots of water though and I keep tabs on my diet

Vitamins seem like a fine idea, I'll tell my Lady to start buying them...couldn't hurt

reply

My Doc recommended D and B-12 based on my blood work. The others I chose myself, and Doc has no problem with them. Fish oil is a good idea to start.

P.S. B-12 and Turmeric are good for the liver. Important for people like me who like to imbibe

reply

My recent blood work was quite boring...despite my best efforts I remain as healthy as a horse!

D and B-12...gotcha
I might throw a multi in there just to top it off

Obliged

reply

See my P.S. above about healthy liver. If Doc says you don't need supplements, then maybe you don't. These things do get oversold sometimes.

reply

Wouldn't be a bad idea to take something to aid the liver
I drink like a mad Viking...I suppose many of our MC buddies do

Good advice and most appreciated

I take cherry extract capsules to keep my uric acid levels down. I prefer taking something natural rather than a pharmaceutical. So far, its working like a charm.

I also take a daily dose of the Probiotic VisBiome. Not cheap, but it is high quality.

I've been off dairy for almost 2 years, so I should probably get my calcium levels checked.

reply

Is that to ward off kidney stones?

reply

Gout.

reply

About a year ago I had intense pain in my big toes, and was convinced it was gout. Turned out it was arthritis. The doctor told me that gout would be even more painful, which makes me sorry indeed for anyone who suffers from it.

reply

I didn't know pain like that existed. Gout in the knee is simply indescribable. I would have gone to the ER if I didn't have some old pain killers laying around.

reply

i take a b12 supplement since i'm a vegetarian.

reply

Today I ate maple syrup ham, brown sauce turkey, roast beef and grilled chicken. Scallops potatoes, green beens, cucumbers and mushroom soup.

You?

reply

i actually had turkey today. just back from my sister's place, in fact. family meals at thanksgiving, christmas & easter are the three times each year i have meat. i've always maintained that if my mom and/or sisters are going to to all that effort to make a meal, i can compromise on those days.

every other day, it's beans & lentils & tofu & rice & grains & so on!

reply

You are the man! To not make an issue of it on those special days...you have my admiration!

reply

thanks!

reply

Oh! Not so bad finally!

I'm going to ask Doc about this--I need all the antioxidants I can get. Does this provide in addition to fish oil?

reply

Yes..
...it makes a lot of claims but a few things I know for sure from experience..
I never get sick when I take it. It strengthens your immune system..
And I sometimes had to take Ibuprofen for backaches... but not when I take it.
I also think it helps with mood and energy.

But I think you should take at least 10-12 mg. I take 20 mgs

Here are some of its claims:

Sold. I'll be buying some.

Edit: I noticed a caution about taking if one is on high blood pressure medication, which I am. I'll ask my Doc about it.

reply

I'm supposed to, but I keep forgetting!😆
