Favorite field trip?

My favorite field trip was to the Science Museum in our city. That place was awesome!

Fun question aliensalmon. What do you remember about the science museum that made it awesome?
I grew up right outside of dc so all our field trips were pretty great; battlefields, the smithsonian, national monuments, but my very favorite was Monticello. Tommy J was always my favorite president and his homestead did not disappoint. They even had archeologists working while we were there and they were still finding dishes and other things from when he was living there. I’d love to go back and visit it again now that I’m older.

There were many colorful and informative interactive exhibits in the science museum. It was like a playground, almost, but also educational and you could learn a lot about science there.

My first and last to London. I was banned from anymore due to an unfortunate fireworks incident. The school and the hotel were most displeased. Bastards.

'Unfortunate fireworks incident' LOL!
Sounds like a story you should share some day

I was booted off the 8th grade Washington DC trip for having too many fights...The good kids went to The Smithsonian and FBI Museums and us rejects sat in a sweltering room with equally bored teachers

Not a fun time!

We'd consumed a few bottles of Navy Rum and one of us had the great idea of lighting a few rockets that we'd bought the previous day. Both rockets went screaming around the room and ended up waking most of the guests on our floor and setting fire to a pillow case where it landed. Could have been worse though.

reply

Jeez!
Are you sometimes amazed that you're not dead or in jail for some of the stunts you used to pull...I am!

reply

Definitely, I've done some reckless things in the past. I still cringe when I think about them. 😱

reply

We need you to post the story in full - it sounds like a riot.

Back in 1989 or so, I was 16 and back then when you reached Year 10 you could go on what they called unsupervised excursions if you had a valid research project.

So my mate and I told the teacher we had secured an interview with a famous Aussie singer of the day for the school magazine. No verification was asked of us so none was given.

We had a great day in the city, flirting with women who worked in the stores, having burgers for lunch. Of course we hadn't secured any such interview and when we got back we just made it all up.

The teacher was disappointed with our results and the story was never published from memory lol.

We ran lots of scams like that, finding all the weak areas of the system and exploiting them.

Themepark in elementary school, Rome in high school.

I love to go camping, or hiking in hills or mountains. I used to go to museums and art galleries but not so much these days.

Our school was poor. We had precious few field trips. We didn't even get the senior field trip to the amusement park that usually happened cause everybody voted to spend the money on the stupid dinner dance.

I'm not sure if this counts but in 6th grade all 4 of the 6th grade classes from my school went camping at Glen Helen Park in Yellow Springs, Ohio, home of Dave Chappelle btw.

It was great for me because as a little perverted 12 year old I will never forget the day 3 of the cuter girls from my class all got simultaneously pantsed by 3 other girls. Right in front of me. But I also remember loving our super hippy counselor, that had long hair and wore a straw hat. He was actually a great teacher showing us stuff in the forest and was really funny. I remember getting paired up with a cute classmate and having to lead each other in the woods blindfolded.

I remember the counselors setting up a hide and seek type game for us one night after dark.

I remember the burnt chicken nuggets at lunch. But most of all, other then the girls getting pantsed which I certainly didn't mind, I remember that all of us classmates got along. Clicks seemed to disappear there.

My favorite field trip that was just a day was the waste water treatment center. I was a pretty strange kid at 12.
