Perfume/scents/colognes are a turn-off

From my experience, such as when girls/women pile on the perfume or etc., it is not appealing -- the scents are usually strong and not inviting at all. I know women and/or men too with cologne or such wear it probably both because they like the smell and presume others would too, but in general I find this stuff off-putting.

I'd rather smell a more natural person scent (clean) or light fragrance maybe at most than these overpowering, nose punching scents that come across more like an offensive odor than anything (often super floral and/or musky-like). I know some people may over do it, but in general I don't find it pleasant.

There could definitely be some that aren't bad, but most I come across aren't attracting at all -- or even just enjoyable from a neutral point of view. I get the same impressions with incense & such too: often too off/overpowering/feeling like I'm breathing toxic stuff.

Oh no, I like perfume. I don't care if it's a turn-off, I don't put it on to attract anyone. Although there are clearly inconsiderate people who use way too much!

I love the scent of perfume on a woman and the way it lingers...I find it romantic and sexy

Cheap body sprays are another matter...they get into my throat (I have some weird allergic reaction to that dollar store stuff)
I have had loud arguments with all sorts regarding 'body sprays'
I wont blow cigarette smoke in your eyes if you keep that body spray crap away from me!

Joop is kind of a dick.

i love essential oils and incense. i always smell like goddamn christmas. it giveth thy life an aura of ceremony.

reply

zephyr_cape- LOLOL "smell like g.d. christmas!" Too funny! You probably smell like a church with all that incense.

I went through a phase when I couldn't stand most perfumes. Now I am back to liking some of them. But I rarely wear any.

Well, like they say, first impressions are lasting and I read that if your first impression includes a scent that they don't like, including possibly reminding them of someone they don't like, you can sink your ship before it's even in the water.

People have widely different tastes in scents so to me it's risky to use them. Also on a semi-related note, women who smoke and use perfume gross me the cuss out! It's just an awful combination. I know it's irrational but it says "bar whore" to me, lol.

I've experimented off and on with colognes and aftershaves. Some of them smell very good, but currently just use aftershave balm.

Some faves that I remember (I know there's more, but can't remember)

Tsar
Sauvage
Polo (the original in the green bottle)
Brooks Brothers Classic

Cheap ones are, nice ones aren’t.

it is a personal thing........interestingly enough if you look at the marketing strategy of most perfumes, they use sexual attraction to pimp their products.
