Only god forgives: 8/10

So, yeah.

Drive is much better. I bailed out on OGF after 20 minutes.

I much prefer Drive, it was stylish, the violence was shocking and the soundtrack was perfectly integrated with the scenes...I've watched Drive quite a few times and blabbed it up so much that one of my asshole brothers in law gave me a Ryan Gosling pillow for Christmas...funny joke and yes, I still have it in the TV room lol

Only God Forgives was pretty weird but interesting
I loved the karaoke and the brutality
Due for a rewatch for sure

I agree

I continue to support Drive as the much better movie

I did enjoy the weird Kareoki scenes in Only God though, that was funny stuff

ETA: The Place Beyond The Pines was a really good Ryan Gosling movie with a great cast👍

i couldn't get past the first 10 minutes of only god forgives.

I think the sheer weirdness kept me interested tbh

i kinda agree. but not passionately. i like both movies a lot, but i agree that ogf is a film that is more fun to go back to.

i think i might like all three pusher films more than either of them. maybe. don't hold me to that.

i recently watched refn's fear x from 2003 and i really dug it. it feels a lot like only god forgives to me, in its atmosphere and the way it kinda abandons plot about 20 minutes in.

it was shot in winnipeg, my town. the mall scenes were shot in one of the bigger local malls...as soon as i saw the interior shots, i was yelling out 'holy cow, that's polo park!'

it's on tubi if anyone wants to catch it. i think it's quite a good watch.

Pusher was a very good series

I find Drive an excellent Film Noir whilst OGF is interesting but doesn't quite work (for me anyway).
