Is Thanksgiving still a thing for most Americans?

It seems so old fashioned to me, like something that would have been big in the 50s.

How the idea of a family coming together to recreate a meal between Invaders and the conquered seems racist. And getting the women to cook, sexist. Surely it's not that big anymore.

not for me.

why not?

it's just me and my youngest son and dog. So there's no point.

Yes. Second biggest holiday besides Christmas and a very big deal.

Yes. Always has been, always will be. We even have a huge parade in NYC for pete's sake!

Yes, it’s a freakin delicious ass meal.

Very much so. It's like Mandatory Family Meeting. It's the only time lot of folks even see the rest of their herd.

It’s my favorite holiday. It’s like Christmas without all the gift giving awkwardness, which ruins Christmas for me. Yes, let’s all get together and spend time together and eat, my kind of holiday!

My family still does the Thanksgiving thing. Cooking and cleaning tasks are shared.

Frankly yes. A lot of people still celebrate it. And although a lot of settlers did kill the Indians, the Pilgrims did not. I'm sick of this stupid untrue liberal crap that not a single white man ever got along with an Indian. Cause it's not true. I don't agree with the trail of tears. But you can't let the white men responsible for it shed a bad light on the white men who were opposed to it. Also my dad when he can be there for Thanksgiving (he's an obstetrician) does often help cook the turkey so you're wrong in assuming that only the women do the cooking.
