Do you have a TV in your bedroom?

No.

reply

Yes:/
My wife likes falling asleep to her shows which I find very annoying but I pick my battles my good man

reply

my wife reads herself to sleep.

reply

Lucky Ducky!
I'm certain to fall asleep to some Lady show dialogue tonight..it's usually a bossy woman 'expressing herself' and it tends to be a crime or hospital draama

Just kill me now!!

reply

No. I don't even have a bed in my bedroom.

reply

You should get a bed...beds are the best things ever

reply

Alas my sleeping in a bed days are over and it's a recliner for me.

reply

that is terrible for the back

reply

I have a terrible back to begin with so it kind of goes together...

reply

Damn sorry to here this

reply

I thought the user name might have been a bit of a giveaway! Thanks for the sympathy but most of the time it's not too bad.

reply

just get a firm mattress and put it on the floor.

reply

Yes. Even though the "experts" say it's a no-no, listening to (not watching) shows I've seen before helps me fall asleep. Otherwise my mind won't shut down - it just whirls from one thing to another (things I need to do, etc.) and I can't get to sleep. It's always something I've already watched so it doesn't keep me awake wondering what happens next. Listening to music doesn't work since it doesn't distract me enough to settle my mind.

reply

Have you tried audio books ?

reply

No, but I think they'd engage my mind too much. Sometimes I try reading to get sleepy, but by the time I actually get settled afterwards I find myself wide awake again. But hey, audio books is a reasonable suggestion. Maybe I'll try it sometime.

reply

I find that Agatha Christie murder mystery audio books work for me. Light books that are interesting without being too interesting. And read by either Hugh Fraser or Emilia Fox, both of whom have relaxing voices for me.

reply

I fall asleep way better when I've watched an episode of a show on DVD. Not so much when I'm streaming, because I'm messing around with menus deciding what to watch, and I think that keeps the mind awake longer than it should.

As for the TVs in the bedroom, I keep a 32-inch TV in my bedroom. 20 years ago a 32 inch TV was considered a 'big screen TV." Now they're just bedroom TVs.

reply

I sometimes put a DVD on to put me to sleep. As for streaming, I just find a show and let it continue to the next episode. Of course, this depends on one's streaming interface since some automatically play the next episode and others make you choose to continue.

A 32-inch TV is my living room TV, but you're right that it used to be considered a big TV. Weird, huh? I'm resistant to anything bigger because I think I'd feel like I was living in a theater, and my living room isn't all that big anyway. Also, because of all the windows I have, a bigger one would block a window or two. My bedroom TV is 24" which I still consider kind of big for that room.

reply

try some soft music.

reply

No, but I have my computer and my tablet (which I normally use to watch TV shows these days) in my bedroom.

reply

Me too..My tablet and laptop.
I can't fall asleep to silence.

But we do have a tv in the bedroom watched mostly by my husband who sticks to news and the "murder" ID channel.
Give me murder over politics. It's more peaceful.

reply

Aha! I can't fall asleep to silence either.

Give me murder over politics. It's more peaceful.

Sad, but true.

reply

I pretty much only watch tv in bed. We got a big tv in the living room but unless it's movie night, I only ever watch football games out there.

reply

Yes, I like heading to bed about an hour before I want to go to sleep and like to watch tv till then.

reply

I love falling asleep to the TV.

reply
