Is Greta Thunderberg the missiah ?

Or just a haughty girl ?

But seriously though I feel very sorry for Greta. She is beginning to find out that nothing meaningful is going to be done about global warming. In fact just the opposite will happen as pollution continues at an increasing rate. Whatever bad may happen is going to happen and no-one will stop it.

reply

We need to return to a time when children were seen and not heard.

reply

We need to return to a time when kids were allowed to be kids, and didn't hear about politics until they were full-grown.

reply

Gretha Thunberg's very point I believe, if one bothers to listen to the entire speech.

reply

I don't listen to exploited puppets and political mouthpieces of the Left. She's just spewing the same garbage they've been saying for the past 45 years. Nothing new to see here. She should be yelling at her handlers of robbing her of her childhood, rather than everyone else.

reply

So you're commenting on a speech you haven't heard?

reply

I don't need to. She's saying the exact same things climate alarmists have been saying for decades. It's not going to be anything new, save for the speaker. Write down her quotes and see just how many other people in the past have said the exact same thing.

reply

Agreed. All you need to do is read the headline to know exactly what will be said 99% of the time.

reply

Yes, but she has a huge following. I think Greta is an inspiration.

reply

Amen!

She's exactly like the Green Wackos back in the 70's who basically predicted the end of the world by the year 2000. Last time I checked, it was 2019, and none of their crazy predictions have come true. Not one.

😎

reply

I was still a kid in the late 70's and early 80's. We had three big "fears" being instilled in us back then.

* Nuclear war. It might sound hilarious, but we really did think it was possible.
* AIDS, when AIDS was first reported we thought it was the end of humanity. Again, we were kids but no one was telling us to calm down either.
* The Ozone layer was depleting, no more CFC's in aerosol cans!! Yep, that will fix it. The world was going to warm up, but it never did. So now it's climate change, except that isn't really happening either.

It doesn't matter though because telling these alarmists it's bullshit is like telling a devout religious person that their ideology is full of holes.

reply

I was a kid in the 90s, and they warned us about the dangers of AIDS and the ozone layer too, as well as global warming. We didn't actually talk about nuclear war by the time I was in elementary school.

reply

You just hit the nail on the head, Forsaken! All this bullshit IS their religion.

😎

reply

Amen!

Especially arrogant, brainwashed little Leftard snots like her.

😎

reply

Global warming? I thought the current term was "climate change"?

She's a dumb broad who's being used for a political agenda.

reply

In Uschaya it's pronounced clormer chornge ( remember the r's are silent ). So I still call it global warming because otherwise I just can't stand it !

reply

Lol. Quasi, I think that's because Australians don't like to pronounce the "e" in words. It comes out as "oiy". I think they consider that pronouncing the "e" as "ee" is effeminate.

reply

I wouldn't call her dumb, but she's definitely being taken advantage of. There are probably people behind the scenes telling her what to do and say. I've been reading a lot of negative feedback on the whole thing.

reply

"Dumb broad", Strat? Seriously?!

reply

Yes, seriously. Not a smart gal at all

reply

Agreed, Straego. A girl, even a young girl with even a smidgen of common sense would balk at being so obviously exploited. I suspect she was told there was some goodies in it for her.

reply

Amen!

The Leftards change the terminology every other month or so. And she is a brain washed moron!

😎

reply

She is a child who is being manipulated. Very sad to see.

reply

Maybe she is a knowing double agent, a crisis actor ! Did your nanny ever tell you that !?

reply

She's not a child, she's an android built to look like a kid with a mental condition to get sympathy out of people. Their last plant, David Hogg didn't work, so now they're using a Swedish model instead.

reply

She's a brainwashed idiot, and a sanctimonious little shit!

😎

reply

Welcome back. How was vacation?

reply

Thanks, Jack! The vacation was great. We went to the Turk and Caicos Islands in the Caribbean. They are beautiful,
the people are friendly, and the food is great!

In my best Monty Python voice:

"She's not the Messiah, she's a very naughty girl!"

Joking aside, she's being used.

She's a 16 year old with Asperger's. A feature of the condition is that the person can become single-mindedly obsessed with a topic or a cause. I don't doubt she has an intense focus on the cause. But she comes from a family background of actors and performers. I think she has "stage parents" and they've pushed her forward with an agenda. I also think there's more to it that that - there's machinery behind this.

I think her most recent speech at the UN was highly coached. Some Aspies get this heated often. She's historically shown that she's the other type who gives a flat effect even when passionate. This one was out of character. Someone persuaded her to act angry. Aspies are not incapable of acting. I didn't buy it.

reply

Asperger's! Of course! I thought she seemed mental! Thanks! She's also an arrogant little snot!

😎

reply

PS Great Monty Python imitation!

Someone pointed this out about her:

Greta has a mental condition that presumably has been worsened by people taking advantage of her to further their own cause. I'd say that what has been done to her is child abuse:

Symptoms vary from person to person, but children with AS often have an obsessive focus on a narrow topic of interest.
Children with AS may develop an all-consuming interest in things like train schedules or dinosaurs (or climate change), for example. This interest can be the subject of one-sided conversations with peers and adults.
The person with AS is unaware of the other person’s attempts to change the topic of conversation. This is one of the reasons that children with AS may have difficulties with social interactions.
People with AS are unable to read facial expressions and body language. Many people with AS find it hard to recognize other people’s feelings. It’s common for people with this condition to avoid eye contact when speaking with others.
People with AS may also speak in a monotone and display few facial expressions. They may also have difficulty knowing when to lower the volume of their voices to accommodate their location.

So not only is she being exploited, but it's especially sick that they're taking advantage of a kid with a mental disorder to push an agenda. Aspys watching this crap should be incensed over this.

If the best the Left can offer against fake climate change is an angry, brainwashed child with a mental disorder, they really have nothing in their arsenal to fight with.

reply

Greta tweeted the following on 8/31:

When haters go after your looks and differences, it means they have nowhere left to go. And then you know you’re winning!
I have Aspergers and that means I’m sometimes a bit different from the norm. And - given the right circumstances- being different is a superpower.

I'm not public about my diagnosis to "hide" behind it, but because I know many ignorant people still see it as an "illness", or something negative. And believe me, my diagnosis has limited me before.

Before I started school striking I had no energy, no friends and I didn’t speak to anyone. I just sat alone at home, with an eating disorder.
All of that is gone now, since I have found a meaning, in a world that sometimes seems shallow and meaningless to so many people.

Maybe this girl is no one's victim or prop and actually has a mind of her own that she's using for a cause she's passionate about. When you were 16 did you not have something that you believed in that you would've been willing to fight for? I think we all did.

reply

This is not something I would allow with a 16 year old daughter of mine. I don't think her having autism should open her up for criticism. Kids should stay away from politics, in general, and concentrate on being kids.

reply

Wasn't that a key part of her speech...that she should be allowed to be a kid but the adults of the world aren't doing their job in protecting them when it comes to the environment? If you believe in climate change at all (which I do although I realize some don't), she has a really good point.

reply

I do believe in climate change because I have seen it on Canada's East Coast. The older fisherman down there will tell you that the water levels are rising in their lifetimes. I don't think a 16 year old has the answers. I wish her luck in getting China and India to stop building coal fired power plants.

reply

A lifetime is nothing compared to the age of the earth. They haven't lived long enough to conclude it's not normal natural behavior. Sure, there are changes, but it's kind of silly to believe that it's the result of 100 years of human actions.

reply

All I know is that fisherman are catching sharks and dolphins in their nets off the coast of Newfoundland. This didn't happen 50 years ago. The oceans are warming and rising, I guess it could be some natural cycle and have nothing to do with the increased use of fossil fuels in the developing world.

reply

That's more likely. There was actually a little ice age from the 16th to the 19th century. It happens, we just have to adapt. I'm more concerned by pollution of the environment caused by multinationals and governments.

reply

My thoughts on this are, even if it's just a cyclical part of earth's history, you can't tell me that we aren't playing a major part in this. If the ocean and forests are the planets filters, and we've cut them down and polluted those forests, you can't tell me that that isn't making a difference. You are concerned about adapting, and I understand that completely, but pollution really is the only thing that we can we work on.

reply

Pollution is something totally different than climate change/global warming/whatever term they come up with tomorrow. And those companies and politicians telling us to spend more money on stopping climate change are the first ones who should do something about pollution.

reply

I thought that CO2 pollution was what was a lead cause of climate change.

reply

Yeah, rather far-fetched. No doubt it affects the environment, but to say a couple of decades of CO2 pollution can change the world climate while there are much bigger, longer-lasting factors (like the sun) is rather silly.

reply

I don't know. I'm not a climate scientist. I just really don't understand why so many scientists would say it's a problem if it isn't. There isn't money in it, so it doesn't make sense.

I am concerned. Years ago my country's previous government silenced scientists. Why? My country and province make a lot of money off fossil fuels. I don't know what the truth is, and honestly, whether we are in for another flood like Noah faced in my lifetime or not, anything we can do to clean up this planet is fine by me.

Scientist have been warning about this for at least the last 30 years that I can remember. Governments have had plenty of time to diversify economies,or come up with some alternatives and to not make this a time of global economic collapse. (I mean that's what they are telling us) They didn't. So I guess we deserve what ever happens.

reply

Enough scientists say there's nothing to be really worried about.

The problem is that this kind of science is different from other sciences. All these theories are really nothing but speculations based on computer calculations. Unlike the medical world this branch does not show a lot of actual, useful developments. So how do you generate funding for your work? Doom scenarios and other stuff that appeals to the big financiers.

Cleaning up the planet, fine. Very few people don't want a clean environment. But I'm not giving away my hard-earned money for the benefit of some fantastical myth.

reply

I'm not saying a 16 year old has the answers but it's not for me to say that she shouldn't feel passionate about it and if she is able to gain an audience for her thoughts, more power to her.

reply

I think some of the criticism of her has been over the top. I do ask myself what her parents are thinking.

reply

Well if you think about the stuff a 16 year old could become passionate about, is saving the environment really a worst case scenario? I really do get your concerns but I think we also need to be careful about thinking of her as helpless. I believe she cares deeply about this and if her parents want to encourage her, I'm not convinced that's bad.

reply

I would be really proud of her if she were my daughter. I don't think that she would say that she has the answers either, but she has a voice and is trying to tell those who have power to listen to those who are proposing answers.

I would be proud of her if I were her parent.

reply

Same!

reply

Surely her concern for the climate changes are understandable?

No matter what one chose to believe about the cause of flooding, drought, and eerily warm summer's of late, there's no reason to resorting to name calling of a 16 year old girl (not hinting at you, Quasi).

reply

No, she's just a brainwashed Leftard moron, and I suspect she has mental problems. I'm simply ignoring the little snot, since she's not worth my attention.

reply

This is a typical day in Sweden for a girl now with the people in it. Of course she is trying to find a way to go outside and keep attackers away. The big press protection is her only way.

β€œEeew, you have sperm on your face and on your clothes, don’t involve us,” they said to the woman. She had just endured a gang rape and abuse by up to twenty perpetrators in a stairwell in Fittja, but nobody in the southern Stockholm suburb wanted to help the victim, Metro reports

reply

Huh?

😎

reply

Its just a act she is doing to provide protection for her. What other issue can she use to con the press to be around her. Save the Whales won't do it.

reply

Oh okay then.
