Do you dump a show easily or do you stick with it no matter what?

I know people who will stick with a show even if it sucks or becomes terrible over time.

I tend to dump them at some point, sometimes within a few episodes depending on how bad I think they are.

Curious to know what others do/think?

Good thread, good thread. I dumped A LOT of shows. Like A LOT. In example; I lost interest in Dexter after season 2 and Breaking Bad after season 3.

Life.

Humm, looks like my dump thread went down the drain...

Interesting.

It depends. These days when I check out a new show, I'll know pretty fast if I'm interested in it or not. If not, I dump it.

If it's a show that I've been enjoying for a season or more, then it goes downhill, I'll still watch; there's a higher level of benefit-of-the-doubt when you've loved a show so far.

However, I did dump Heroes even though I enjoyed the first season. Second season I just thought forget it. Life's too short.

It really depends. If I start a show and it doesn't pass the 3 episode rule - that is, if it sucks after the first three episodes - then I will drop it. But if I'm two seasons in, it has to really have fallen in quality for me to give it up. Or be really offensive. I think Glee did that. It pissed me off so much in the later seasons. And I eventually still watched it all, but had to skip through a lot in order to do so.

My typical window is 2-4 episodes. 90% of the time I know I'm gonna ditch it halfway through the 2nd episode, but may go ahead and watch 3 and 4 to confirm my suspicions.

Sometimes I dump one really fast. Like Black Mirror. dumped it 30 minutes into the pilot.

Last month I started 'How to become a god in central florida' and dropped it at the end of episode 2. It just wasn't very good to me. Not saying it wasn't well made. it just wasn't appealing to me for some reason. (though the shots of kirsten dunst's bustline were nice. but i doubt she's gonna show 'the girls')

here's a good one for ya:

this summer i started 'city on a hill' (showtime) and watched the pilot, which was okay but didn't blow me away. in fact i had some reservations abotu the series and the acting right from the start, like tropish Boston stuff and pointless melodrama dialogue, which gave an impression on inauthenticity, like the show was written from other shows which really overdid the typical Boston stereotypes.

so i watched episode 2 and it wwas going downhill, if anything (no pun intended lol) and i gave it my typical verdict (see above) but decided to do episode 3 just in case. well, i'm glad i did. it got better as the episodes went on, and i knew more about the characters with every episode. particularly i really like the black assistant DA. he alone is the reason i stuck with the show. there was one point (i think in episode 5) where someone called him a house n____ and his response immediately cemented me to the character, and the show. that one moment hooked me for good.

and like i said, it kept getting better, so it turned out to be the right decision.

I stopped watching NYPD Blue because one of the female characters was so annoying.

Currently on series 1, episode 3 of Peaky Blinders. I mean, it's alright but I can't understand all the hype. I think people where I live love it cos it's filmed here. I'll give it another episode I think then ditch it if it stays at this pacing.
