What are your opinions on Elton John's hits from the 1980's?

I thought he had some great singles of the 1980's with songs like "Sad Songs (Say So Much)", "I'm Still Standing", "Nikita", "That's Why They Call It The Blues" and "I Don't Wanna Go On With You Like That", I always feel his 1980's singles get overlooked.

I'm a big fan, so I liked his 80s output. I always had the feeling that people considered it to be his second wind (especially around the release of 'I'm Still Standing').

The only songs by him that I like are from the 80s: I'm Still Standing, Nikita and Sacrifice. Don't Go Breaking My Heart is okayish.

Don't Go Breaking My Heart was 1976. And it was awesome.

I know it's from the 70s. I just gave it special mention.

"I Guess That's Why They Call It the Blues" is a good song

All great songs, and I would include two more of my favorites: "Blue Eyes" and "Little Jeannie".

Great pop songs

The problem is that his 70s songs were such classics. I agree that his 80s stuff was underrated.

I love all of Elton John's hits, especially Candle in the Wind about Princess Diana. He sang the original one about Marilyn Monroe.

Another Elton John I loved that I find to be very underrated is "Chloe", always felt it should've been a bigger hit when it came out.
