what's with all these pinned threads?

what a joke

reply

It's a little over the top I agree.

reply

moderator should be fired

reply

Lol a little. I think maybe 5 pinned threads would’ve sufficed. This is just excessive.

reply

It is because today is Dewey Day, in honour of a former poster who passed away a year ago.

reply

Well, it's ruining the boards for people who never heard of him.

reply

We are remembering a great friend and Original Poster
Many of us loved him, laughed out loud with him and terribly miss him to this day

godewey died a year ago tomorrow and he broke our hearts yet you can't help but smile when you think of the fine fellow

Sorry if it's a bit of a drag but some giants need to be remembered Knish

Back to business Monday...hang in there;)

reply

He certainly seems loved. Perhaps if I knew the giant I would understand.

reply

Please try reading this thread and maybe you'll understand some of the silliness we enjoyed with him.

reply

You would have felt like you had met a long lost big brother

There are very few special people on the planet and he has left it

The world is poorer from his leaving it

One thing I do know, he hated maudlin depression and sorrow
We need to continue on with our silly jokes and trivial foolishness...he'd dig that

Let's light a big fire and have a lot of laughs Knish...Our man would have liked that

reply

Here’s another thread to read in order to give you insight into understanding why we “loved” this character. He was “A Man For All Seasons”. It would have been a privilege to have known him personally. In a way we did know him, because what you read was his persona. Dewey 😇 the soul of this board.

The OP title has been deleted, but start from the beginning. You will see how easy it was to go off track! 🤷‍♀️🙇‍♀️

reply

Boy, we DID go on and on in some of these old threads, didn't we? Even if they got hijacked we managed to keep a-goin'.

reply

So many times the OP was shoved to the side, especially when all of us were involved! I can recall there were times someone would ask after a lengthy back and forth “What is this thread about? I forgot!” 😅😂🤣

reply

I know! It happened a lot and so often the hijacking was not intentional. It just happened. Thankfully, most folks didn't seem to mind.

reply

The King of Highjacking Threads, and entertaining the h3ll out of us!

reply

It was never dull when Dewey was here!

reply

Never! I'm alternating between feeling sad and laughing my butt off reading his hijinks.

reply

Same here. And still missing him...

reply

Ditto. I think of him a lot.

I wonder how his GF is handling this. Thought about writing her again to see how she's doing, and telling her we're having a Dewey memorial, but with all the new posts to his threads, even if she did check in, I don't know if she'd find the PM meant for her.

I should do it anyway. This has got to be a tough time for her.

reply

Funny, I thought about her, too. And wondered if there was a way to let her know that we're thinking of her at this difficult time. Obviously it's much more difficult for her, but sometimes it helps a little to know others care.

reply

I'd help if we were able to title PMs, but we can't.

reply

Then again, what does it hurt to try? Just send one and if she gets it, she gets it. If not, it won't hurt anything, will it?

reply

Oh I will. If she comes here and looks under PMs instead of the notifications, she'll find it. If not today or tomorrow, maybe sometime.

I wouldn't be surprised if she came here tomorrow. She knew how much MC had come to mean to him, and how much we loved him too.

reply

👍

reply

Aneesa...she seemed like a sweet lady
the one time we posted

Best wishes and friendship to Aneesa

reply

She was. Is. She's a very, very special person 💕

He could hardly believe someone so beautiful, inside and out, not to mention so smart, wanted to be with him. Of course she did, Dewey! No mystery why.

reply

I remember him adoring her and all of the great things he said about her

She sure made our buddy happy...reason enough to love her

reply

So true!

reply

He'd want us to laugh more than cry, so I'm trying to focus more on the hilarity he brought.

But then he DID send us that super sad song at the end, and say he didn't want us to disappoint him with a lack of tears!! So what the hell. Both is fine.

reply

I can't picture him not laughing though he did dig deep once in a while

reply

He had a helluva great sense of humour, right up to the end! That's our boy.

reply

How does anyone know if Dewey passed away????

reply

He was friends with a number of MC people offline as well as here. He was particularly close with Dazed, who let the rest of us know what happened in this thread:

reply

Oh that is so sad and lovely at the same time. Sad for the loss, but heartwarming to see posters on here sharing memories and honoring the life of a fellow poster. Sometimes I think this is such a lifeless space, but there are real people in here, sharing a real part of themselves. RIP Dewey. Sorry I did not get to know you like others did.

reply

ok

reply

things are getting back to normal.

reply

Harsh.

reply

Dewey was before my time here on MC, but he seems to be well remembered and loved, so why would that be a joke? Have some damn respect man.
