It is because today is Dewey Day, in honour of a former poster who passed away a year ago.

Boy, we DID go on and on in some of these old threads, didn't we? Even if they got hijacked we managed to keep a-goin'.

shareI know! It happened a lot and so often the hijacking was not intentional. It just happened. Thankfully, most folks didn't seem to mind.

I wonder how his GF is handling this. Thought about writing her again to see how she's doing, and telling her we're having a Dewey memorial, but with all the new posts to his threads, even if she did check in, I don't know if she'd find the PM meant for her.
I should do it anyway. This has got to be a tough time for her.
Funny, I thought about her, too. And wondered if there was a way to let her know that we're thinking of her at this difficult time. Obviously it's much more difficult for her, but sometimes it helps a little to know others care.

He could hardly believe someone so beautiful, inside and out, not to mention so smart, wanted to be with him. Of course she did, Dewey! No mystery why.
I remember him adoring her and all of the great things he said about her
She sure made our buddy happy...reason enough to love her

Oh that is so sad and lovely at the same time. Sad for the loss, but heartwarming to see posters on here sharing memories and honoring the life of a fellow poster. Sometimes I think this is such a lifeless space, but there are real people in here, sharing a real part of themselves. RIP Dewey. Sorry I did not get to know you like others did.
