πŸ•―πŸ•―πŸ•― πŸ•― πŸ•― 5th Annual Dewey Day! πŸ•―πŸ•―πŸ•―πŸ•―πŸ•―

Today MovieChat again remembers our dear friend, godewey, who left us much too soon four years ago. godewey (or "Dewey") was a wonderful human being who had quite an impact here from the earliest days of the site, and the many friends he made here brought him a measure of comfort and joy as he battled illness.

I will be pinning Dewey-related threads to the first page of the General Discussion board throughout the day as our members create them or as they bump up old favorites.

I was taking a break from posting during the time that Dewey died - came back and was shocked to see posts about it all.

I remember him fondly - we had some wonderful, friendly conversations and some great laughs! My favorite exchanges with him were on a misheard lyrics thread. Belly laughs over "You picked a fine time to leave me Lucille." 400 children and a crop in the fields. godewey was the best.

RIP.

reply

I remember that one, it was a great thread! It's also been great having you back around these parts more regularly over the past few months.

reply

Aw!! Thank you, that's a very sweet thing to say!

That was a great thread! Good times. Ack I miss dewey.

reply

He was top dop, top poster, top person. May he watch over us all from his big chair in the sky.

One Love.

reply

Bump for those wondering what's going on here today.

reply

Just keep one pinned thread at the top. You can free things up. The posts are not hard to find now they have been brought forward.

reply

Or maybe half a dozen? Anyone can bump a few of the others if they want to keep them near the top.

reply

that sounds about right.

reply

OK.

reply

thanks for doing this. πŸ‘ it has been much appreciated.

I'm really happy - and sad - to see this remembrance. Was a very small part of this era, but when I saw all the love, how could I not be moved?
Likely, I'll die unnoticed like a struck squirrel in the street, but to experience the depth of someone else's impact on our small community gives me comfort that we do have good people among us.

reply

Please don't under value yourself mister, you matter a lot to me and others

You are no varmint struck on the road buddy

reply

That's nice of you to say. I'd comment further but ... *sniff* ... the tears ... *sniff* ... they prevent me.
Hahaha. While I don't think we agree about some things, you seem like a nice enough guy that I don't want to antagonize you just for the sake of sounding superior.
Thank you for the kind thought. And I said this about Dewey because I never would imagine some random group of people would honor me with such warmth, whatever my good intentions. Really something to see. Genuinely moving.

Polite disagreements are the norm and ideas are the coin of the realm...I don't know that we've ever butted heads but to heck with it, I quite enjoy you being around

There are a a bunch of good sorts here, they remember old friends and aside
from a few squabbles MC makes us all happy

Cheers Friend🍻

Raising a glass to Godewey, who was a ray of sunshine here.

reply

I'm sad to hear this, even though I wasn't a regular poster at the time of his passing and only vaguely remember the name.

It sounds like he was a great person with whom to interact. We need more people like him these days.

reply

What's his last name so I can find his obituary.

reply

Sorry, I don't know, and would not be able to share it if I did because our rules prevent the disclosure of personal information without express consent.
