Comedic actors who are meant to be hilarious but you disagree?

My list could be rather long, I am not into what I call dumb ass comedy the sort of stuff Adam Sandler makes, so some "comedic actors" who I do not find amusing at all. Keen to hear others lists as well.

Steve Martin
Chevy Chase
Seth Rogan
Mike Myers
Jack Black

Rob Schnieder
Sacha Baron Cohen
Martin Short
Seth MacFarlane (Ok, he can be funny but his films are awful)
Whoopi Goldberg
Rebel Wilson
Ellen Degeneres
Amy Schumer

THERE IS A LOT OF HATE IN YOU,CHAMP.

reply

Yep. I hate ordinary films and non funny comedic actors.

reply

Let me expand on that

Are there any female stand up comics that,.
Let me rephrase that;
are there any FUNNY female stand up comics
that doesn't talk abut their vaginas or resorts to talk about:
— being fat (if they are overweight)
— being a minority (if they are not white)
— being gay, trans, etc (if they are not "normal")

Bring on the hate

reply

Nope I cannot think of one that doesn't discuss any or all of those things. The ones that talk about or rely on fat jokes/skits bore me to tears.

Look, I am trying to run but I can't - I'm too fat!!
Look, I am dancing, don't I look funny - I'm fat!!
I'm trying to climb a fence, oops, it's falling down now - I'm fat!! (I actually saw that one in a shit Aussie film starring a fat female 'comedian'.

Oh and lets not forget...

"Look at all the stuff I'm eating?! It's all so unhealthy" - I'm fat!!
or as I saw in a recent ad with Rebel Wilson the opposite,
"All I'm having tonight is two sushi rolls, yep, that's it" - Because she's fat, get it, of course she would eat more than that!! Ha ha ha!!!

reply

Ha. Ha. A.

ANY MALE COMICS THAT DONT RESORT TO TALK ABOUT THEIR DICKS,BEING FAT,BEING A MINORITY OR GAY?..YOU DO REALIZE WHAT A STILTED OFF BASE ASSESSMENT YOU HAVE MADE,RIGHT?

YEAH...THEY TOOK DOWN IMDB BOARDS FOR CAPITAL LETTERS...COULDNT BE PEOPLE LIKE YOU CALLING OTHERS C*NTS....AND JUST SO WE ARE CLEAR..FEMALE AND MALE COMEDIANS ARE GENITAL,RACE,APPEARANCE BASED IN MATERIAL QUITE HEAVILY AND EVENLY...TRY TALKING IT OUT INSTEAD OF TRYING TO INSTIGATE ARGUEMENTS.

reply

you win,'couse you are special

I'm out

reply

Yeah most Male comedians don't talk about any of those things.

You probably haven't heard of her if you're not Australian (or maybe British) but Kitty Flanagan is a hilarious stand-up comedian. Observational type humour and Kitty is slim, white and straight so she shouldn't offend you too much.

She may have joked about her vagina, I'm not sure. But why not? Vaginas are funny.

reply

Lazy comedians who steals material from others offends me.
Tnx,I will check out her vagina
jokes

reply

I am Aussie and I do find Kitty to be funny. It's not about being offended (or not) though, I don't really find most dick jokes to be funny either. I guess delivery and other factors play a part too. Just hearing someone say vagina/dick over and over isn't all that amusing, to me anyway.

reply

All good, I was actually responding to harry's comment about female comedians, but yeah I agree there needs to be some wit there to make those sort of jokes fly.

reply

Off the top of my head, Melissa Villaseñor. She does impressions that are spot on and hilarious. Her JLO is my life.

reply

whatever rocks your boat,
I think of her like the tolken snl, person.not funny aat all

reply

I'd say her comedy, separate from SNL, is good.

reply

Will Ferrell would be top pick for me..Many of the others on your list I prefer in dramatic roles.

The biggest question for me might be how many comedy films do I find to be hilarious...Hardly ever..

reply

I'm the same and probably why my list is so long. I find most of the ones I listed just try too hard to be funny. It's like "hey look at me, I am putting on a zany face! Look, I'm being funny damn it!"

reply

Will Ferrell would be top pick for me..
Bingo.

Unfunny and ruins everything he's in. I weep when I think how good Elf could have been with just about anyone else. Too bad they wasted a nice cameo by Bob Newhart.

I also think Adam Sandler is vastly over rated. See one of his films, you have seen them all.

reply

Will Ferrel while I can admit is funny sometimes I never understood the huge fuss over him, he isn't that funny. Also Seth Rogan is not funny at all.

I don't think I can think of a single comedy film that is funny all the way through, there are some comedies that are good all the way through such as Planes, Trains and Automobiles but that wasn't just a comedy it was also a drama about a very lonely guy trying to make friends. Clerks was also good all the way through but again it was also a drama.

I personally think Comedy should be restricted to TV shows, 22 minutes is a much more reasonable amount of time to be funny all the way through.

reply

Steve Martin is tantamount to a genius, excels at drama (The Spanish Prisoner) as well as drama, and has had the good sense to retire. I strongly disagree with your choice here. Everyone else on your list can go pound sand.

reply

Seth MacFarlane? Anything funny and good about the first few seasons of Family Guy (and probably American Dad as well, not as familiar with that show) were due to work of other people. People he got rid of.

reply

Adam Sandler
I like Steve Martin much more as the straight man than the clown.
Kevin Hart

but give us some examples of those you like

reply

who do you find funny?

reply

Bill Murray I like his dead pan, downer type style. Not everything he makes is good and when he had tried to do something more serious it doesn't tend to suit him but he is funny.

Eddie Murphy was pretty funny back in the day before he started doing kids films.

Bob Newhart, again that kind of deadpan style.

Johnathan Winters.

Don Rickles.

I like Jerry Lewis as well but he was best when teamed with Dean Martin as balance.

SO YOU LIKE TIME MACHINE COMEDY...69 YEARS OLD,58 YEARS OLD,90 YEARS OLD,DEAD,DEAD,DEAD...
