Australia tour summary - Awesome!

So, all back to normal in 'Sunny' Bournemouth, having spent a month in Singapore and Australia, taking in Brisbane, Gold Coast, Byron Bay, Coffs Harbour, Port Macquarie, Newcastle & Sydney (a bit like driving from San Fran to LA).

It's a super place and I can see why people want to go and live there. Like America, the service is excellent (unlike England, where it's rubbish). Everyone we met were really friendly, crime is low and getting around is a breeze.

I understand that the Australian Government have pledged a huge amount of money to building new roads. Everywhere we went, there were loads of new motorways and bridges under construction.

I'd definitely go back again and explore a different part next time.

Glad you had a fair dinkum adventure in your ute🚎
Sounds like a ripper of a trip🏄‍♀️
I hope you had a slab in your esky the whole time🍺
Those shrimp on the barbie must have made you chockers🍤🍤🍤
Us Yanks love Australia🇦🇺
Good onya mate👍

*i had to do the great Aussie accent as I typed that out😉

reply

Funnily enough, I heard an Australian accent in my head as I read that, lol.

reply

You can't help yourself, right? It's one of the best accents ever, right up there with the Irish brogue🍺🍺

reply

We don´t call them shrimp in Australia, we call them prawns. Incidentally a "prawn" is also a term for woman with an ugly face but a good body because when you eat them, you keep the body and rip off the head.

reply

Yikes!

yeah, I had to google most of those Australian phrases...I'm in New York over here so I did pretty good, right mate?

reply

Fuck yeah mate! lol

reply

Don´t forget to throw in the C-word at the end of each sentence when talking to friends.

reply

Don't make me take out my didgeridoo you silly goose (i think silly goose is more or less our 'C word)

reply

Put some fizzy drinks in the chilly bin, mate! (That's actually Kiwi slang, but I love it!)

I can just hear your Aussie accent as your typed, and yes We Yanks love Australia and New Zealand! I'm planning
to visit both in 2020.

😎

reply

Love the accent!
Sounds like a wild trip, you are quite the traveler
Hope you have a blast

reply

Thanks, Shogie! It will be countries #34 and 35 for me.

Providenciales in the Turk and Caicos Islands in the Caribbean will be my 32nd. Leaving for there on Saturday with my woman. (Well I gotta have someone along to tidy up, mate!) Fortunately I am told that the locals refer to it as "Provo", which is obviously easier to pronounce.

😎

reply

Sounds great🍻
Have fun Amigo and be sure to have a romantic slow dance with your lady...they love that😉

reply

Thanks, Shogie!

BTW, I discovered earlier tonight that they have a Beach Fish Fry every Thursday from 5:30 to 9:30. They feature everything from freshly fried fish all the way to lobstah! We are SO there!

For the praise, you get the Hugh Jackman seal of of approval, my friend.

But in all seriousness, I'm glad you had a good time and got home safe. So, what's next on your future travel itinerary?

reply

Thanks, we’ve only seen a tiny bit, so we’ve got to go back.

It’s half term for my daughter at the end of October, so we’ve decided to go to Abu Dhabi for a week (I’ve been researching flights and hotels today). Then we’ll take 3-4 weeks off in December, but we haven’t decided where yet. I’ll post when I know more.

reply

Glad to hear you enjoyed your trip, mate! I'm planning to visit Aus and Kiwiland in 2020.

😎

reply

Remember, no tipping culture in Australia (unlike UK, US and virtually everywhere else). Strange, but true.

reply

Thanks for the tip, mate! Good onya!

😎

reply

Always happy to share the knowledge. Apparently, because the minimum wage is so much higher there, nobody gives tips - ever. I’m normally a big tipper, so this was completely alien to me, but I must’ve saved myself a ton of money over the duration.

reply

That is great to know! Thanks!

😎

reply

Sounds wonderful!

I've never been but from everything I hear, I would live in Aus or NZ in a heartbeat.

Did you do your US trip already? Did you get to go to Texas, and look around Austin or San Antonio?

reply

Imagine all the best bits of Britain and America mixed together - that’s Australia!

We took advice and decided to do Texas next April, as the weather will be less severe (really looking forward to it).

reply

The best of Britain and America sounds great!

April is a pretty good choice for Texas - one warning: in central TX, April is the month where it does start to get really, really humid even while not at its hottest yet. Temperature can be around 27 C so bring light summer clothing even though it's not officially summer and not as hot as it can get yet. Still, 27 and humid is better than 38 and humid, lol!

Have a really great time there; it's a nice place!

reply

My wife’s from Indonesia and I’ve spent a lot of time in SE Asia, so I’ve experienced extreme humidity. 🥵

I’ll be asking all you guys about the best places to hang out in Texas nearer the time (local knowledge is priceless).

reply

Cool! (Or not cool, in the case of the hot and humid places, lol!)

reply

Glad you enjoyed your time over here Andy.

reply

We had a really super time, thanks.
