Is Popeye's Chicken starting to get trendy right now?

I'm just curious. Part of the reason I eat at that place is to avoid the hipster yuppie crowd....

Well, it recently set somewhat of a trend with long waiting lines and selling out in restaurants across the country when it launched its new fried chicken sandwich. It was enthusiastically received and declared to meet or exceed the hype preceding it.

I watched a live taste test of it on a morning tv program the other day. I was impressed and definitely want to try one.

reply

Well, I guess that's (sorta) good to hear they have a successful product. Them long lines though....

reply

So, you eat there regularly and were unaware of that new product? The long lines are bound to taper off as that initial frenzy recedes into the background.

reply

I haven't eaten there in a week or so. I change it up often - lots of variety in my town. I'll probably go to Popeye's this week, though (but just for some good ol' spicy chicken-on-the-bone.)

reply

They are expanding here in Canada quite aggressively.

reply

You like it?

reply

I have it a couple of times and I liked it. It is just so different from KFC.

reply

Yeah, gotta love that cayenne pepper!

reply

I liked the biscuits also.

reply

While I am a long-time KFC customer, I think Popeye's is great. Their chicken seems higher quality (though I have no idea if that's true) and is a little less greasy than KFC.

reply

I live in the area Popeye’s started in and I’ve never seen a hipster yuppie in the one I eat at.

reply

Ah, that's good.

reply

I always got the shrimp po'boy and red beans and rice lately, but the po'boy was discontinued.

reply

I've been going to Popeyes for years. I like their spicy chicken, biscuits and dirty rice. Their chicken strips are pretty good too.

reply

Not around here

reply

Keyword, "right now". I'm sure this chicken craze will blow over as soon as the next one starts.

Pretty informative ratings! My personal favorites are the Chicken and Dirty Rice.
