Movies for the thinking person?

Any suggestions? I like a film that stays with you, makes you think about your life, or on the themes of chance, coincidence, fate even, the average flick nowadays is as deep as paper, let's have some suggestions for the thinking man or woman?

There are plenty of films for narcissists.

No wonder I feel like a solipsist then...

reply

Best answer to a flippant interweb response I’ve ever heard. Today I learned what a solipsist is. Beautiful. I’ll be back later with my “thinking person” movies.

reply

I had to look up solipsist as well lol😬

reply

I actually used the word solipsism in an English ‘O’ Level exam (I would have been 15). I was a bit pretentious back then.

You remind me of an old member of imdb who likes to read poetry by candle light.

reply

You remind me of a dickbag that brings a happymeal to a picnic! To each his own right? I don’t want your apple slices, seriously.

reply

You presume he actually has a dick. Assuming facts not in evidence!

2001: A Space Odyssey

Agreed

A Journey Through Fairyland

The MCU films, minus Woke Panther and Captain Hillary Clinton. The rest of the movies, especially Endgame, are for the real logical thinking men.

reply

The MCU films do not belong in any category other than "list of mindless bollocks for adult manchildren" , let alone "Movies for the thinking person"

Slumdog Millionaire

The Big Sleep 1946 - let me know of you can figure out the plot.

reply

haha, when i tried to watch the big sleep last year, i tried going to the wiki page a few times to try to work out what on earth was going on. finally around the 1hr mark i gave up and just went along for the ride. it certainly has plenty of charm & charisma & snappy dialogue, though.

and martha vickers too. hot diggity.

I just finished watching A Beautiful Mind, with Russell Crow. It was an amazing film and a true story. Check it out.
