Man vs Nature Movies

The Man (or Woman) vs Nature genre has given us some great thrills over the years and is a personal favorite

Name some good ones and why you enjoy them

Jaws (75) Ah, the sand, the surf, the pretty girls in biki-OMG!!! A 25 foot monster just swallowed a little boy on his rubber raft!

This movie kept me out of the ocean for years lol
Super effective 10/10

Being stranded comes to mind - Robinson Crusoe, Cast Away, The Revenant. How would I fare if stranded? Could I survive?

reply

The 'self dentistry' scene in Cast Away comes to mind😳
And I gripe about my crummy work dental plan...Jeez Louise!

Into The Wild

reply

I really need to watch this one but the ending has been spoiled:/

reply

Well, it was based on a true story so of course the ending is already known.

reply

Yeah...kind of foolish of that kid:/

reply

Many people never got enjoyment of their life and then they died. From cancer.

At least he enjoyed his life... umm before he got poisoned, anyway.

The Revenant
The Grey
The Edge
The Birds
Anaconda(awful movie,still)

reply

I love Anaconda's awfulness...for 20 bucks at the ticket booth and snack stand we got:

J Lo and Wuhrer in skimpy outfits;)
Ice Cube being extremely corny
Jon Voight completely devouring every scene more than any 40 foot snake ever could!
Seriously, Jon Voight played a South American Quint and it was GOLD!

reply

No way Jon Voight played Quint.
Quint was good guy. Voight's character was bad guy in movie.

reply

True, I just meant he was obsessed with a gigantic animal and was very salty

Moby Dick

reply

I never read the book (a very bright guy I know who loves very boring things told me this book was a total snoozer) and I've never seen it on film

I should get to it...something that's nearly 170 years old and STILL a household name probably deserves attention

reply

I love the book. It is very action packed, and really holds up well over the years. The movie with Gregory Peck is excellent. One of his finest performances.

reply

Arctic (2018) with Mads Mikkelsen was very good.

reply

I really like Mads Mikkelsen but somehow missed this one

The Grey (2011)

SPOILERS below☠️

Excellent movie!

SPOILERS!!! for anyone who didn't see it..............

I got the impression that they were all killed in the plane crash and what they subsequently experienced was a sort of purgatory...a punishment before they 'went on' to the next place
That's just my stupid theory though but I kind of like it

reply

I don't think it's a stupid theory or that you were the only one that thought something similar.

The Perfect Storm

Prime example...there's no fighting that
