I thought Session 9 (2001) was scary. I watched it alone in the dark lol.

What would you say is the scariest horror movie? πŸ˜„

reply

I did think Session 9 was scary for sure and I’ve only seen it once so I need to watch it again.

The one that really does it for me is the original Woman in Black (1989). There’s just something about that style of horror that really gets to me.

The Blair Witch Project

Blair Witch if you saw it in the theater in August or September of 1999 for sure.

It will be seen as tame these days but Amityville II (1982) scared me back in the olden days.

Exorcist III has its moments as well. Good film πŸ‘

The one that scared me the most was Noroi (2005). A movie that isn't as well-known as it deserves to be.

Personally, I think INLAND EMPIRE damn scary. A semi-recent really effective horror movie that got little press is Lovely Molly. Check that one out.

The Exorcist scared me the most. I watched it with all the lights on.

I agree. The Exorcist

there are some truly nightmarish images in inland empire that i think captures better than any other example i can think of the kind of dream terror that directors have been trying to achieve since the beginning of film.

that creepy-crawl walk laura dern does up that pathway is the best example of that, i think.

David Lynch really gets how to direct horror without actually directing a horror movie

Session 9 is one of the best underrated truly scary movies. I'm also going to go obvious, and say the Exorcist. I didn't see this movie until I was 30, and it really scared me.
