Most Fired Great Directors?

Obviously, a shitty director will be fired many times, so let's exclude all but the greats... Whether it was an artistic thing, or personal. And explain what it was. Many times I'm not too familiar with certain bands besides the music and its nice to know other things, so even a sentence is very appreciated.

The first one that comes to mind is Sam Peckinpah, because he hated any interference from the studios and wouldn't relent most of the time.
