my shrink says i am cynical because i have low self esteem
i say i just happen to be realistic about things.
sharei say i just happen to be realistic about things.
shareProbably true, you should agree with him and show you have some introspection.
shareDo you lie down on a nice leather day bed during these sessions or is that just a movie thing?
Serious question
yeah, ps psychology isnt an exact science, a lot of mumble jumble.
shareSo cynical. Your shrink has a point.
shareI had to go to a headshrinker when my folks broke up decades ago...the guy had no idea what he was doing...total asshat but it was appointed by the court:/
I had to see him twice a week for months...it was a huge misery
Some years later his wife very publicly left him because he was catting around with all of his secretaries LOL...and him with small kids of his own!
Head doctors are full of lies
The Irish way is best...the truth is at the bottom of a pint
"Maybe it'll be at the bottom of the next pint!!"
shareBeing cynical has nothing to do with self esteem. Being cynical is questioning things you hear/see on the media. Find a new shrink.
shareNothing wrong with questioning things we see on the media. But cynicism is broader than that.
It's an overall, prevailing attitude of looking at people and the world with suspicion and distrust, default mode being that everyone's only out for themselves at the expense of others. The worst thing about it is people who are cynical often create situations where either people truly are only out for themselves, or they think they are and behave accordingly, alienating the people who are trustworthy.
